I am a woman and never have I thought about not telling someone my shoe size but I ran into that this past week. A friend of mine was talking about her needing a new pair of shoes. Some asked her what size she wore because they were thinking of some shoes they didn't use anymore and she didn't want to tell them. I was shocked but didn't push it at that time. Later I asked why and was told many woman do not give out their shoes size as they don't give out their clothing size. To me that was odd. Are you a woman that doesn't give out your shoe size?

I am a woman and don't care if anyone knows my shoe size, 7 1/2. What I think it is that some women have larger sizes and are ashamed of it because they don't fit "the norm" when it comes to them. It is not like people with larger shoe sizes can help it.

i am a 9, and i don't care. i think in the early 1900's womens feet were very small, and throughout the years, the feet have gotten bigger, as well as height. I remember watching television shows in the 1960's and they would sometimes be in a shoe store and lie about it, and be in pain walking around. these days, hardly ever do i go to a shoe store where anyone puts a shoe on-i do it myself.

We are funny creature we women. I also never understood why a woman was ashamed of her age. I have never ran into some one that was ashamed of her shoe size. I have only seen one person that would havecause to be ashamed of her shoe size. This young woman was a friend of my grandaughter. She was a bit taller than my grandaughter was. She had the feet the size of a big boy. I though that her shoes were big enough for at least 3 girls. and this girl was about 13 years old. I wouldn't have a problem giving out my shoes size but if my shoes size was something like a 13 or so I might not want ot give it out. By the way I wear a 7 to a 7 1/2 half.

Wow... that's odd to me too LOL I've never hesitated about giving my shoe size. In fact, it'll depend greatly on the style of shoe so it could be anywhere from an 8 to a 10, but I usually start with a 9. I never know until I try something on :) I could understand, though, if someone has unusually large feet, they might be self-conscious and not want to give out numbers. My sister is the opposite -- at 5'7" tall or so, she only wears a size 5 shoe. People are always laughing at her tiny feet and asking her how she doesn't topple over forwards for lack of balance LOL She is good-natured over it and laughs right along with everyone else.
Now, clothing sizes are another story entirely. I never give out my clothing size and I don't like being asked about that. I guess if I was a perfect size 5 or something, I would enjoy saying so... but, since I'm NOT (LOL), I don't enjoy revealing that information.

That reminds me of Peggy Hill. Apparently, she buys size 16 shoes and files off the 1, so as to appear to be a size 6. I guess it's embarrassing to not to have the dainty little feet. Look at the Chinese ladies that use to bind their feet. Crazy.

No, I don't mind telling people I am a size 9 1/2 or sometimes 10 in dress shoes. I wonder why she felt uncomfortable telling others her shoe size? LOL

i've noticed some women act like anything over a 7 is huge.i think it's "size" programming in general.
i wear a 9 to a 9 1/2 wide,and i don't care who knows it LOL
only thing is,i wish more stores would realize there are a lot more women who do wear nines.if they have my size at all, they usually only order one pair, and somebody's most likely zapped it up before me.
my dad wore 13's,so i'm not surprised i wear a bigger shoe.

I never had problems telling others about my shoe size. And I have never come across a person or rather a lady who does not give her shoe size until now. Maybe that is one of your friends little "quirks". I really cannot tell but maybe she just doesn't feel comfortable about it.

I have no idea! I've never really heard of woman being afraid to tell their shoe size...I know some woman may be uncomfortable if they have really big feet but even then they don't really care.

haha Ok so I'm a dork.
I hate telling people my shoe size (even if I do it) because compared to EVERYONE I know - I have big feet.
I have to wear a size 9 1/2 or 10 to be comfortable. Of course - my right food is almost a half size bigger than my left foot as well so maybe thats where some of this comes from?
However - my age? Never cared about telling it - it is what it is. Clothing size? Much rather tell my weight (gasp!) because thats actually something to go by (somewhat).
Shoe size has always bugged me though...I just don't like feet.

I don't know what it is. I mean, for most people, shoe size is proportionate to height and sometimes age and how many children one has. For example, a woman who is 5'10" with no children may have a shoe size between 8 and 10 ( fall about an 8 1/2 or 9 Narrow). Some people may also have wide or narrow. But, even if you do have large feet, it doesn't mean anything at all.

I don't know why someone wouldn't want to tell their shoe size? I've never heard of that before. It's not like you can diet to lose a shoe size, so what's the big secret? I've heard of women not wanting to tell their weight, and maybe their clothing size, but the shoe size thing is new to me.

Because they dont want to admit to having big manley feet, same as men wont admit to having little childish girly feet

I have never heared of someone being so modest about giving their shoe size. Unless you have some major clown feet.lol Now for clothing size I do know alot of people who wont tell you tha info because they are probably over weight. I don't have perfect tiny feet but my size is 8.
