Do you think popcorn tastes better when you get it at the movie theater or do you like what you fix at home more? I know the new microwave popcorn is pretty good and it comes in different flavors, with salt, unsalted, and with different degress of butter. I can remember when you got the BEST popcorn at the movie theater and you couldn't match the taste at home no matter what you did. Today, it is hit or miss it seems when you get it at the movies.
When I fix it at home, I usually get Act II with Extra Butter. I figure that I may as well enjoy life--even if it is extra calories!
So do you like fixing popcorn at home better? And if so, what kind do you fix? Or do you still prefer what you get at the movies?

I like mine at home. I just seen on Good Eats yesterday how to make it on the stove, I am going to try that this weekend. I like at home cause I know what's in it and what's not. Public made popcorn just scares me, never now what has fallin in there.

I like my popcorn at home. the popcorn at the movies has way to much salt in it for me. I usually get a diffent kind and brand every time I fix it at home. My favorite is the kettle corn because it has sweet salty flavor to it.

Fixing popcorn at home is better for me. It cost less and you can fix it to your liken. My favorite is also Act II extra butter flavor. I love alot of butter, sometimes I add extra butter. But too much butter is bad for the arteries. Sometimes I eat the caramel flavor when I want something sweet.

I like it at home, unless it's at the theaters that have the flavor shakers...I Love those!

I think I will go and get some pop corn now, the question is Butter, salt or toffee? hard choice but I think I will go with the Toffee.

As a person who works at a theater, I can tell you now, I would rather make my own popcorn at home..why? for one, its not going to cost like 6 dollars..I can't enjoy something thats so cheap that costs that much..plus, I get so sick of the smell of the popcorn in the theater that I would rather it at home..its not so overwhelming...

Yep! Hey we belonged to Netflix and Blockbuster at the same time for about 3 months! I ended up choosing Netflix over the other one. Blockbuster always had shipping problems, lost in mail etc. I haven't had any problems with Netflix and my movies come fast(2 day delivery).

I prefer it at the movies. For me, it seems I have bad luck cooking popcorn. I have burned it many times, and underpopped it other times! Microwave popcorn just doesn't turn out good for me. I can't seem to get it right.
In the olden days (when I was a kid) we had an awesome popcorn popper. It was a small plug in thing and you put butter and popcorn seeds in the bottom. It had a little lid that spit out popcorn as it popped. Of course I thought this was awesome b/c it was spitting out popcorn into our bowls :) But it also tasted really good!
I wonder if they make those old style popcorn makers anymore. I would rather eat that then movie popcorn any day.

It seems like every brand of microwave popcorn pops differently and at a different speed! I know I have burned a bunch of bags! I used to work with a guy that loved to eat burned popcorn. We would all donate it to him if we burned any at work. He loved it! To each his own! I like the regular stuff myself :)

I really think the movie theater popcorn tastes a lot better. There are so many times I wish I could just go to the movie theater and buy popcorn and leave! Haha but I'm not sure they would be too happy about that!

I too like the Act II with extra butter but there is nothing like real old fashioned thearter pop-corn.
True story, I have been known to go to the theater just for pop-corn, not the movie. I did get some really funny looks when one time I asked the ticket person if I could just go in and get some pop-corn. It took some convincing but they finally let me :)

I also like at home popcorn...movie popcorn has been pre-popped and arrived is giant plastic bags. Though there are a few small cinemas near me that still make it fresh. I love getting popcorn at those places.
At home, I make my popcorn on the stove top. I used to use an air popper since I know that's the most healthy way to make popcorn, but I just couldn't get past how it tasted like styrafoam. I ended up putting so much butter on it to make it edible that I was undoing any health benefits!
To me microwave popcorn tasted a little too artificial. The "butter flavor" was a bit salty. Although I do like the microwave "kettle corn variety".

I like to make popcorn at home. I prefer air popped. Movie theater popcorn is too stale, too greasy and too salty for my liking.

I love the movie theater popcorn and for me there is just nothing that even comes close.
I like mine with lots of butter and since I don't go to the movies that often....I figure I might as well indulge when I do.
Now there is one microwave popcorn that I like a lot....the Orville Redenbacher's Smart Pop Kettle Korn.
In Germany popcorn is usually served sweet....so that reminds me of home when I eat it.
