How are your eyes?

My eyes were normal (or so I thought) until a year ago. Last year, when I had an annual eye check-up, it was discovered that I am far-sighted. Things at a distant are a blur. So the doctor recommended that I should wear glasses. And although my glasses were just corrective, I can't shake off this feeling that my eye condition can get worse. What should be done to prevent this? Or am I just being paranoid?

There's always laser surgery.Takes 10 minutes and you really don't feel all that much. I myself have saroid and diabetes and have been blind a good deal of this whole last year,I have had four surgeries, and am slowly regaining my sight. Also you can take I-caps, which are vitamins made specifically for eye health.Try not to worry too much, worrying makes life worse than it is.

Farsighted means you see better at long distances. If things are blurry at distance, you are near sighted.
It has to do with the shape of your eye ball, depending on whether you are near or far, your eyeball is slightly oblong either laterally or anterior/posteriorly so it is harder to focus at different ranges.

I am the same as you. I am far-sighted as well. Don't worry about it too much. Just be positive that it will all be alright. And that goes for everything in life. If you're positive, good things will happen.

Well chances are if you already have bad eyes it will probably get worst. There are operations where they can correct problems but I personally think it wont defeat the problem if you have always had problems with your eyes. Thats the one thing on me thats really good is my site. Im lucky though because 5 years ago I was a flat roofer. When we where doing a roof somehow the tar came up and splashed in my face sealing my eye shut. I basically couldnt see anything and was told by doctors that I would probably lose all vision in my eye. Well I went to a few specialtist and one put this contact lens thing on my eye for 1 week and my eye healed right up. It does water all the time now when its bright out but oh well at least I can see out of it. I think anything wrong with your site is pretty scary because after so many years being able to see everything who wants to lose that? Anyways just keep getting your eyes checked and maybe look into corrective eye laser surgury. Good luck!

my eyes are brilliant and i hope them to be like this for ever. What I am worried about is these days I am doing computer too much which can eventually affect my eyes any day....so I am kind of scary few times otherwise my eyes are fantastic and most powerful in my family.
If you follow doctors advice and as this is just corrective so you can easily get rid off this glasses in near future doing proper use of them regularly and dont get panic about the worse thing, as I said just follow the advice

Your eyes can get worse and then get better with age.
I need glasses to see the pretty girls and also to drive and see pretty girls. haha
Years ago I was told I would have cataracts and now they are starting to affect my vision like looking through a lace curtain. But I'm really chicken about operations so I'm putting it off.

It's been a long since I had my eyes checked up, but I know that I've been hard time seeing things from afar. The optalmologist told me that I have "Astigmatism", I don't know the complete meaning of it but I know I should wear glasses to help me have a better eye-sight..

Well for the past 20 years I have enjoyed and took pride for having 20-20 vision. I was the only one in our family that wasn't wearing glasses, well reading glasses for my mom. But then, there came a time that I felt nauseous when I woke up in the morning, everything was spinning and was still so even if I close my eyes, and so I had my eye checked.
I had astigmatism and I was asked to wear corrective lenses, I have been wearing it from time to time but a lot of times I also forget. For the past 6 months I did not get the nausea thing until just 2 weeks ago, it came back so I had my eye checked again, and figures, astigmatism still the same 25-25 but I am near-sighted so now I had to wear glasses. 50 grade for near-sighted vision and 25 for astigmatism.
I never thought I'd be wearing glasses before... I still can't believe it now.

Well I was proud of my 20-20 vision too, especially when I was one of the few at work who does not have to wear glasses. That was why I was so disappointed to find out that I now have to wear glasses.

corrective lenses for eye condition are a normal routine prescption recommended by the opthomologist. If we run our eyes ablout us we shall be surprised to find that great number of people celebrity and noncelebrity wear corrective glasses there is no fear for getting it worse other wise this may well turn out to be a "paranoid " condition I donot know your age I live in India ande am 75+ corrective lenses were prescribed to me when I was 22yrs old and the same number continues still now.Generally speaking there is nothing to worry though even in exceptional cases the fear may be not be justified there is treatment available for all conditions now .So there is no need to worry or be fearful

hi mari..well i faced this problem in my 12 standard. My eyes were good before that when i had a check up in our school ,it was discovered that i am sighted slightly and recommended to wear glasses and i was getting headache on that days often.but sight is abt 0.25 only.I thought it was becoz of reading books regularly without stopping and started taking precautions by my self like taking a break in between study hours, eating lots of carrots and drinking carrot juice every day.eating the food that contains vitamin A ..and going to park and seeing greenery at evnings(this is good for eyes you know)..I wonder within one year my eyes become normal and have stopped wearing glasses and very healthy even now.But i have addicted to mylot recently and am spending more than 8 hours on my computer .i am afraid i will get it again. but sarted taking care for that...

I did wonder before if taking carrot juice or eating carrot sticks will still help:) But I guess they will help somewhat, at least to relieve strain in the eyes. Thanks for sharing.

I found i had problem with my vision in 2002. I still wear spects. Initially i used to go for regular check ups but after that i started visiting the doc once every year. For the past two years, the vision hadn't detoriated and reamined constant. Thathappens with every one. In your case just think this way "Glasses add to the dignity of an individual". Eat lot of carrots and visit the doc regularly

Carrots I can probably take, but to go to the doc regularly, oh gosh. I fear the doc would say that my eyes are getting worse.

I'm Far sighted as well & have been wearing glasses on & off for a long time now. The way I see it, is that all of us at one time or another will have something failing with our bodies as we get older. Therefore we do what we can to help the faults of our bodies. By this I mean whether you try & fix things medically or use natural remedies to help the failure of our body bits.

I have astigmatism and I do wear eyeglasses. I suffer from severe headaches and eye strain. There are times that I feel that my eyes would drop and feel too heavy. There are times also the I just have to close my eyes and stop what I am doing because I feel too nauseous. I believe that your eye condition could get worse if not treated right away. Since you wear corrective lenses, then I believe it could still be treated. I suggest that you have your eyes checked regularly by your doctor.

I'm the opposite...things closer up tend to be blurry for me. I've just got my brand spanking new bifocals!
As far as your eyes getting worse, I think as some of us age so does our sights. I wouldn't worry though as long as you don't have any vision problems other than aging eyes. I don't think that most people will go totally blind unless they develop some sort of eye disease or something.
