Are you Punctual in your appointments?

I always try to be, even though sometimes i must admit that i leave things for the last minute so i am a few minutes late. For me, up to 5 mins is being on time. Then up to 10 it's ok, but more than 10 it is being late, so it annoys me if the person i'm waiting to doesn't call to tell me. I always do. Do you consider yourself punctual? do you always arrive on time to the appointments that you have?

I always arrive before the appointment. I am just a stickler for punctuality and I really consider it rude and in bad taste to be late for an appointment. When I have set an appointment, I just make sure that I leave with plenty of allowance in case I get caught in traffic. I just don't like to keep people waiting and I also don't like to be kept waiting. I very rare occasion that I get late, I call the person I am going to meet that I would be late and I make sure that I call at least 5 minutes before the appointed time. For me it is an important business practice to be on time. Time is gold so they say and if one is late, one is not only expending ones time but that of other people too. It is also a form of courtesy and good manners to be on time.

god, i think that even if i tried i wouldn't be able to arrive before the actual time of the appointment. I only do that when it's a really important appointment. For example, i always arrive 5 to 10 minutes earlier when it's a job interview etc. But when it's about meeting my friends somewhere to go out? doh, forget it LOL.

I am actually referring to business appointments. But when it is meeting with my friends, I have the tendency not to come on time because they all SUCK when it comes to appointments. I just adjust my time depending on my friend. I have a friend who doesn't seem to know the exact time becaue she ALWAYS show up an hour or more late. so learning from my experience I also show up an hour late from our appointed time. I just go where the tide go so to say most of the time. I will show up 10 minutes late if they make a habit of showing up 10 minutes late too. I just dont want to wait.

I hate myself for always being punctual. I always find myself being the first to arrive in an appointment and the worst part of it is having to wait for a long time for my friends or the person that I am meeting. This really gets my blood boiling but it seems that I never learn! That is why more that getting angry at my friends, I get angry with myself for being on time. I hate to have people waiting for me and so I want the same courtesy extended to me. But no, some people really are chronically late and do not care to call in advance or at least send an SMS.

Ohhh yeah being the first is so bad!! hahaha. You arrive on time and everyone else is late, and you yell at them afterwards but there is nothing you can do really lol. Best recipe for that is being late on purpose for a while, to see how those people react. I am late sometimes, but if i exceed 10 minutes i always call...it's rude otherwise.

I was in that same situation. It really gets your blood boiling. I really am pissed off and yet I never learn my lesson, I still leave early for that appointment with these group of people that I know who are very relax and doesn't care if your boiling mad already. To other people, it doesn't really matter and they don't care what you feel when you wait too long.

If you have problems being on time, you'll already feel bad about appearing sloppy, lazy, unprofessional, selfish or undisciplined due to poor time-keeping. Being punctual shows respect and consideration for others. Punctuality also shows you have self-discipline and organizational ability. When you are more punctual then everyone benefits including you. People like knowing and working with reliable people because they know they can depend on them.

I totally agree. Being punctual shows that you really care about the appointment you're about to have, and all that implies, specially at work. Being late can transmit all the opposite, and that can be really bad for you. There are many things, subtle but certain, that us people pay a lot of attention to when we meet someone, and punctuality is often one of them.

You are right asmurthy! A person who always considers other will never be late in an appointment. Discipline and respect is needed to be punctual and sadly some people don't care about that anymore.

I am always punctual, I can't stand being late for anything. I always make sure I leave in plenty of time, because you never know what may happen on the way that may delay you. I can't remember the last time I was late for anything.

this is the thing that my friends hate me even my boyfriend. they always say that im not punctual and always late. but i tell, are they perfect, there were a time that i am way ahead of them (but you can count how many times it was, LOL) in out meeting place. In my work, the official time is 8am, you can come earlier say 7:30 am and then you can leave at aroung 4:30 pm as long as you complete the 8hrs work. There's also the grace period until 8:30, so it fits me, i can come until 8:30am and im still not late but i will also leave late at 5:30pm. when people talk about time, specially on appointments, i wont give my comment on what time i will arrive because if i tell and i cannot comply they will blame, so i just let them chose and then they have to wait for me if i wasnt able to make it. im not rude, i just dont really know why it is hard for me to make it on time with appointments. :-)

it is hard because you are like that. I have friends who are exactly like you. They don't know why and how they do it, but they're always late LOL. Just make sure it doesn't get you in trouble.

As much as possible I try to be on time or even a few minutes earlier in my appointments. When I was working in 11pm graveyard shift, I leave the house at 8:30 since the last trip is until 9pm only. I don't want to take chance in being late at work. Now I'm working in a flexible time but I chose to start working at 7am, this way I will finish my job earlier. You are right when you say being late for a few minutes is ok. I agree with that too. If a person is late today for work, I can still tolerate that. But if he/she's late for work everyday, that's not ok. Time management is very important, be at work or personal lives. Whenever I go out with friends, I make sure that I arrive in our meeting place a few minutes earlier.

Time management is very important, but i must confess that if i worried all the time about being totally punctual it would stress me out. My bad i know, i am working on it lol.

I am extremely punctual. I know people who are not, and it drives me nuts. I'm glad my fiance is as punctual as I am. If it was not that way, we'd drive eachother nuts!!! My Aunt, on the other hand, is late for everything. If dinner is at 5:30 we tell her it's at 4:30, so she will arrive on time. Once we were to be at someone's house at a certain time, and she was to drive me there. When I knew she was late, I left without her, arriving there ON TIME in a taxi!!!!

Am actually punctual and on time on my appointments. I always put at least 15 to 30 minutes allowance and i should be at the location of my appointment. An incident happened last saturday related to punctuality and i was 15 minutes late with the given time. The delay was due to the fault of the one who gave the location instructions. She gave me a wrong direction and made me dropped off at a wrong location. Good thing, the event started by 10 am and i arrived 9:45 am. At least, still on time for the event.

I see you are punctual but are still flexible with others...that's pretty good actually, because someone who is too strict might have problems with other people often.

I am very particular about people being late for appointments. Thus, I will make myself come earlier for the appointed time of my meeting. It does annoy me and I have people who can be as late as 1/2 an hour for their appointments... tsk, tsk.....

As much as possible I really want to be punctual and I do, (but sometimes I tend to be late also!!) because its not right to keep someone waiting for you and I don't want also to keep on waiting unless you really really have acceptable reason why you are late with the appointments that we set. Yeah.. making a call then let the person, that you have an appointment with, to know that you are going to be late for a certain minutes..

after years of experience and quarreling because of this, i decided to implement a tactic: if the delay exceeds 30 minutes, i simply leave or do whatever i want to do, not caring if those people will look up for me or not. Of course, i do this if they don't call me to warn me that they're going to be late. Using this tactic you don't need to worry any longer than those 30 minutes and after them it's the other person who must worry about finding you and not vice versa, and i think it's fair that way.

I try very hard to be punctual Lightnin honey but it doesn't always work out! I am like you as long as I am almost on time that is ok but if I am running late I will always let people know and get quite upset if they don't return the courtesy! xxx

Me too! I always try to go out early to avoid being late, and I even set my time to be 10 minutes faster, but somehow I always end up being 5-10 minutes late :/ But I always call or text whoever I'm meeting when I think I'll be late. It's better than leaving them hanging and wondering if you've run into something bad.

Oh my!!! It's even scarier: I am also like you LOL I do try to be on time, and I wish I was like my husband who's always a bit earlier for everything. However I do tend to leave things to the last minute sometimes too. And often I am about 5 to 10 minutes late instead of 5 to 10 minutes earlier. I tend to not let time run me or my life, but of course it's not possible LOL still I don't like to feel a slave of time.

Yes. i always am. I think that it says somthing about a person. It tells you if he is serious, if he is able to commit himself to other's rules, if he honours you. I will always be there on time. And i will always have trouble with a person that is late for an appointment. I really won't be able to have him on my team, and to relay on him.

So you're really strict about punctuality then liranlgo, that's fine as long as you're punctual yourself, of course LOL.

I'm not sure. I mean I'm not consistent either. I am either pretty early or a little late, depending on where I'm going. Most of the time I make it on time BARELY. I don't like it when people are late either. I don't think anyone does. To do others a favor and be on time is always good. I try my best, that's all I can say.

I got friends who don't mind others being late at all. I think it is because they're almost always late too LOL. Well you cannot demand what you don't give, right? hehe. I try not to be late either, even though sometimes i am.

That's a very big problem of mine, punctuality..i don't know in most of my appointment i'm always late..maybe i really need a good discipline, i'm trying to get rid of this bad attitude for a long time now since it doesnt gave me any favorable return..too bad for me..

It's good that you are trying to fix this problem....and nope, no nice returns since most people end up being tired of someone who is always late.
