When I went to the hospital in early 2003 for my neck hurting bad.I thought I had pulled a neck muscle, but I didn't.The said it was stress. They also told me that I had high blood pressure and refferedme to a really great doctor. He gave me Diovan, the lowest milligram they make.I took it for three months and then my blood pressurs had dropped lower than normal,so he told me to go off it.Three months later it was high again and he tried three different meds, because they either didn't work or my insurance wouldn't cover that particular medicine. Then,we got one, forgot the name of it.Again three months later I was low again. We played this high and low blood pressure game for a year.He could not figure out why it was doing this and what to do to fix it.Then he retired and I got a new doctor team and none of those doctors can't figure it out either. So,they gave me Diovan and I test my blood pressure at home and take it as needed. What do you take and how?

I take Lisinopril. I started on the lowest dosage, which is 10mg. I now take the highest dosage, which is 40mg. I also have diabetes, which makes high blood pressure harder to control. I take 20 mg twice a day. When I was taking the medicine once a day, I would have high spikes. So, taking it twice a day controls it better, for me.

I used to take that,it worked great. Then I lost my insurance and had no money. The doctors office had no samples of Lisinopril,so they put me back on Diovan.
My uncle too has to take his high blood pressure medication twice a day,so it works correctly too.

If you live in the US Lisinopril is only $4 at WalMart. That's what I pay.

I have been taking a high blood pressure medicine for quite some time but I was taking it to control a rapid heartbeat. Its a beta blocker called Atenolol. I am up to 100mg once a day. I have since developed high blood pressure while on this medication so they then gave me a diuretic called Hydrochlorot 25mg. I also take that once a day. I have only been taking that one for about a month and I am going back to the doctor soon to see if it had any affect. The weird thing is that my boyfriend takes the same medication as me but his dosages are lower. I also take a baby aspirin everyday to help prevent a stroke or heart attack.

I take HCTZ, a diuretic in the morning. Hate it, I have to go to the bathroom all the time all day, but at least I don't have to go at night. Lobetteral is such a huge amount that it's split. Half in the AM and half in the PM. Other wise, I just sleep all the time without the meds and sleep all the time with the meds. Too little meds, I sleep. But mostly because my heart rate is horribly fast, I get tired out moving. It's like my heart is running when I'm standing still. It started when I hit menopause. My testosterone levels were always high due to polysystic ovarian syndrome. Now I don't have the estrogen to counter-balance it. It was making my heart run wild. But the amount of meds, no matter what type of blood pressure meds they put me on, I slept all the time. So my meds are divided between morning and night. Now I'm awake during the day and sleep at night. Doctors gave me too much in the AM only and my body just couldn't take it. Pill form is how I take it. It took a year before the right meds, the right amount, and the right timing. I was so discouraged, high bp, sleep, meds sleep, so what was the difference? Except that without meds, I could go longer without sleeping!
You may have reactive blood pressure. Reacts to stress, salt, etc. When I was young, if I ate salt, like ham or salted popcorn, I came out 150 over 100. But no salt and I was 120/70. So I didn't eat salt any more. I also went through a period of time when my blood pressure was high due to overactive adrenal glands. So they knocked those down. In your doctor team, did you have a urologist and an endocrinologist? They are really important as well as a heart specialist.
Hang in there, you'll figure it out. Don't just chart your hbp, chart what you eat and what's going on in your life. It may be pain that triggers it too, my bp goes up when I'm in pain from my arthritis or from my sinus or ear infections. So also chart your general health. Take care

For the last six years I've been into Plendil then to Blopress, For the last four years I was rx Blopress 16mg and Norvasc 5 mg, one tab each daily in the morning before bfast. I also take medicine for my diabetes. I go to the doctor for consultation every month. I think there is no end to the medication as long as you go to the doctor.
