My newest cat, about a year old now, has a fascination with stuffed animals right now. It's hard to say when this began, but I just started to notice it recently. While I was sitting on the couch one day, he entered the room and was crying. I look over to see him dragging a decent sized stuffed animal in his mouth, through the living room. All the while, he was crying. He continued to do this until I tried to get up to get my digital camera, at which point he let go of the stuffed animal and headed off to do other kitten things.
A few days later, I find him doing this again. This time, he stopped dragging the animal and - while still holding it in his mouth - got on top of it and began pawing at the animal with both his front and back legs. He would also cry while doing this (although not non-stop like he does when dragging the animal). The next day, I awoke to a stuffed animal in the middle of the living room, and later in the day he once again grabbed part of it in his mouth, stood on it, and began pawing away.
I have a good number of cats, and this is the first time I've seen any of them do this.

Hi Ashlee67 wow I have three kitty's here and had a few ove rthe years and that seems so different then anything I have seen. How many cats do you have? Mine are all outdoor, neutered boys Willy, Junior, and BabyBJ. Considering they are leaving mice, birds, and bats at my door, I think I would rather them play with the stuffy. LOL Vicki

I have a female cat(Mamma Bear) that is 4 years old. She had 4 kittens over 2 years ago. We found them outside whrn the kittens were weeks old. Long story short they are all fixed. A few weeks ago Mamma Bear started carring around stuffed animals & socks while making the same noise she used to make to call her kittens. I am not sure what is happening but I found your post while googling it. It doesn't seem to be to common though. Good Luck~

That's a funny story, Ashlee67. I have 6 cats at the time being and I don't remember any of my other cats doing such a thing either. I know that the plastic, vintage my little ponies have a smell that drive cats crazy! I collect them and if I was to leave them hanging around my cats would grab them and cuddle them, totall y in love with. Other collectors have had this experience aswell.
I guess the stuffed animals might have a similar smell that drives your cat cuckoo.
