How Do You Choose Which Discussions To Respond To?

I'm always in a quandry as to which discussions to respond to. I check the top discussions of the day, the hot topics, discussions my friends have started and discussions from my list of interests. I go back and forth searching for things that interest me. Do you have a method you use to choose discussions that work for you or do you just sift through all of the discussions until you find one that strikes a chord with you?

I just go through the discussions with no responses and try to find ones that somehow interest me, whether I relate to it or just feel like answering. I always go to discussions with no responses because I hate it when I make a discussion and nobody responds to it. I figure I can help out others who have this problem too, though I doubt you have this problem!

I do not know why, but when ever i make new discussions, not many people actually participate in it and it is always left empty for a day or two before one or two person actually responds! I know it is important to make interesting discussions and i am trying very hard to, but it just seems like no one is interested in the ones i make! .

I hate trying to make my own responses. I think it really depends on who sees the discussion. If somebody has a ton of friends and makes a comment, chances are it will get a decent number of posts. Sometimes you just need to get lucky with who finds the discussion. I dont like to try to come up with discussions. I would rather post on other peoples. Thats why am I am here!

Some time its very hard to find. But I go in this way, first I respond to topic started by my friends but its not possible for me to respond all of my friends topic as I have many friends in my friends list. Secondly I go to topics which I have added in my interest. When I don't find anything there I prefer top topics or fresh topics of the day.

I do have a method, when it comes to choosing the discussions. In general, I respond to 4 discussions per day. 1 discussion that I respond to is the discussion started by my friend. Then I rspond to a discussion that appears in the list of interests, and finally, I respond to 2 discussionf from the category "Today's top discussions". The basis for selecting the discussions is my liking.

Dear watchit14 I search a lot to find the discussion of my choice .. My main preference is to the simplest and really easiest discussion. I used to check discussion my friends started and if that don't interest me then I go for searching for the simplest discussion , discussion with no responses. Sometimes I really find it hard to find the discussion of my choice .. but it happens very rarely.

Hi, wachit14. Sometimes, I'll be puzzled to choose which ones to respond to. On most occasions, I choose those stared by my friends or from my interests. Those interesting or I have something to day also draw my attention to share my opinions. For me, I seldom go to the hot topics or today's top discussions. Have a great day! :)

I usually browse the top discussions, new discussions and discussions my friends started to find the threads. Then I look at each topic, read what the thread starter penned, then sit back and reflect on the topic. If nothing comes to my head within a minute or two, then I will move on to the next topic. Otherwise, I will start constructing the thoughts for a response in my head, and translate these to writing when responding.

I started a similar discussion a while back when I found myself lost. The most popular thing is that people seem to start with their friends' discussions. I do the same too it seems. I have saved this URL in my browser: http://www.mylot.com/nr/friendsdiscussions.aspx so I would end up starting with my friends' discussions, assuming that I am still logged in. If it turns out that I have already replied to what I could reply to, I just hunt around thru friends' discussions. One friend who had replied mentioned going through discussions with no responses & new user discussions. they also said that several of them are several months old, but was still able to come up with good responses. I tried that as well, & for me, even though I have come up with some good responses myself, I did not find that many. I also go through my interests, & then pick one of those at random, or maybe something I would like to see if there is anything good started by someone.

I usually start with discussions that my friends have started. I go through them and look for discussions that have topics that interest me. I answer those first. Then I'll go back to my friends discussions again and I'll look for anything else that I might like to answer. Sometimes I go to discussions with no responses. I can usually find several discussions there that I can post on.

Hi fellow myLotter, usually i respond to those discussions which interests me most, which are moral dilemmas and other family problems (either with kids, husbands, wives). I enjoy helping people out and giving them my opinion (what i would do in their situation). Everyday, i browse the "today's top discussions" page first, usually going 2-3 pages back opening them all up on my browser on firefox for easy toggling. After that, which usually takes a long while to respond to all of them, i go to new discussions and the ones which my friends have started, which usually take less time than the today's top dicussions section. Some discussions on myLot are really interesting and i think the thing that really gets me to read the discussions are interesting topics so it catches my eyes and interest! rarely do i go to hot topics but i might be having a look at it soon...

i usually read the title of the discussion and see whether i have any input or can contribute something to the discussion or not... if i can, then i will respond to it... if not, then i will skip it and look for something else...

As for me I am rather selective when it comes to responding to discussions. I give utmost importance to topics that suits my interests. Moreover the content must be well-laid out ,free from ambiguity and jargon.

It is a time taking process for me because I read many discussions and only respond if I can-if I have anything to say, and when I have the time. But it is not difficult to find discussions to respond as there are so many good discussions being started everyday.I mostly go to the discussions my friends started, then to recent discussion, and others.generally I try to respond if I have much to say.I don't respond if my response woulbe be a one liner.

If it is a topic I think I have an opinion about or a topic that relates to my life or makes me say "uh huh!" then I answer it.
