how old would you be if you didn't know old you are?

I hear a lot of people my age and older saying things like, "I am too old to be doing this or that." Other times they say they are too old to be wearing something they really like...because they think they are too old. Then there are those who are afraid to move out of their comfort zone as they age...for reasons I don't think they understand. We all say that age is a state of mind, but I haven't seen too many people who actually live that way.
To me staying youthful at any age involves keeping the child within vibrant, enthusiastic, passionate, involved and making sure that fun and laughter are a part of daily life. For me, even though I've been around the sun a certain number of times my 'don't know how old I am age' is early thirties. That seems like a good inner age to stay. It is old enough to know better and young enough to do some crazy things anyway! How old would YOU be if you didn't know how old you are...and are you living that way or not?

I would be as young or old as I feel. In general terms I feel young as I did years ago. So if I lost track of where I am on the old clock. I would say I am eternally young to the day I kick off. Too much is made about age, I think it is more to do with actions and quality of life.

Ah yes..I like the way you think. Couldn't have said it better...thanks for posting a whole lot of wisdom in a few words.
Yes, there is eloquence in brevity...as your comments reveal.

If I look at the grey hair on my head and the white beard I have developed over the last number of years I would say I am old. If I go by my energy, I have as much as when I was a spring chicken, so I guess I am just right....

Seems that you have an inner age that doesn't match your outer appearance...and I sure know that one.
Thanks for adding your comments...I try to live with the adage...it is not age...it is attitude. You seem to have that aced!

It is an interesting question. Your inner age is in the range I feel too. As I have asked the question to a variety of people from all different age groups, most of them also feel they are much to young to be the age they actually are.
I think it is really important not to let our chronoglical age overshadow how we feel on the inside.I intend to keep on 'youthing' no matter how old I am.

Actually most people are in their early 30's, no matter how old they are! This is the age most people are the most comfortable with, until they look in a mirror, then their true age hits them right between the eyes. 30ish is Old enough to Know Better, and Young Enough to take a Chance!. I'm 74, feel 54, and act 34, until my wife gets annoyed with me, and then I feel 84. I'm living the dream and enjoying every moment.

Hi again Barehugs...
I agree with you that early to mid 30's is the age I feel inwardly. I love your comments..."Old enough to Know Better, and Young Enough to take a Chance!." YES!!
Sounds like your healthy, balanced living is giving you the "ageless body--timeless mind" that Deepak Chopra wrote about. You go Barehugs!!!!

Even knowing how "old" I am chronologically, I have no idea how old I am. When I stop to think about this, all I can feel is wonderment that I have no feeling of agedness. I am ...
I am feeling fine. I am having fun. And, for now, I have no need to define myself with an age.
It's like the phrase used here in a previous post:
"Ageless body, timeless mind."
Never thought I'd reach a space/place where I know EXACTLY what that phrase means, at least what it means for me.

Hello again..
I think we are on the same page with this...now. At one time I used to really be concerned about my age and appearance. Now I am in a different place in my soul path and neither are of much importance to me any more. Appearance wise I still look at my body at times and am surprised that the face and body in the reflection has a lot more sags and lines than how I see it when I am just 'in' it.
I can tell how much I grown though because I no longer have any 'energetic engagement' with the fact that is doesn't look the way it used to. It is what it is. At this point I am not at a point where I want to make exercise a way of life...and so I am content to accept it and be happy I am doing well on every other level.
Like you I am in good health, happy, content and settled for the first time in my life. I am happy to be here...at any age. Yes, that ageless body/timeless mind is somewhat of an abstract...but close enough!
Good input...thanks!
