Ever spend an entire day reading a book?

Today I woke early. I made pancakes for breakfast, did the laundry, and made the bed. Not wanting to do anything much today, I grabbed a book by one of my favorite writers and headed outside to my lazy chair. That was aroun 11:30 this morning. At 8:00 tonight, I finished the book. Karen Robards' books are some of my favorite reads. Once I start reading one of her books I find it hard to put down. Desire in the Sun is a historical novel that was written in 1988. I usually pick up paperbacks at flea markets or tag sales. I read them so quickly it wouldn't be very frugal for me to buy them new.

I have read more this year than I usually do. Reading is a better escape for me than some other vices. I tend more toward the historical novels of the pre Arthurian time, or just a little later. That is, this year. I get interested in an author, and seem to devour everything I can until I am sick of them, or the storylines become predictable. I will pick another read day again soon, as I have a book (actually three, but two are "project books") sitting and speaking to me. I probably deserve a lazy day some time soon, and I will have to put it on my schedule. Yard sales and book resellers are good sources if you want to own the books, but I am to the point I do not want to own anything else, so I just check them out, and back in.

Hello my friend, I have not had the luxury of being able to just read all day. I have been able to read an entire book in a night a few years ago. Now I read a few or two a week depending on how much I work in the daytime. I too buy mine from Library Book Sales, Church Rummage Sales and flea markets. I have a library book sale coming up in a couple of weeks. There is 4 of us and each of us has the section assigned to cover the books as best we can so that we can come home and go through our temporary bounty. Books do not take long to be read and re read around here. A few stay a favorite and get a spot on the shelf. Many we sell at the flea market we go to once a year where we are vendors for 5 days. Happy reading!!

Yes I have. I usually don't mean to, but I get so caught up in it that I keep thinking 'just one more chapter' and next thing I know I've finished the book and haven't done another thing all day! That is what a good book will do for you. :)

I've done that many times, spent the whole day reading a book. It's my favorite ways to spend the time. A lot of times, I'll do a quick straitening up of the house, and put something in the crockpot for dinner, and settle down with a book. I'll get up to get another cup of tea, or to stretch for a minute, and go back to my book.

You gotta get some snacks along the way too!
Still keep you open to the outside world of food, while you are also all snuggled with your book. :D

I don't believe I've ever read a book in an entire day since I was a little kid. I was a big reader as a kid and I loved R.L. Stine books. I could take one of those books and spend an entire afternoon reading. These days I don't have a lot of time and/or concentration to read an entire book in a day. It usually takes me 3 days to a week to read a book on average.

I did that with the Harry Potter books. I read The Order of the Phoenix (all 600 or so pages) in 1 day with breaks only for food and to take one annoyed (I was annoyed to be talking to this person).

I can’t say that I’ve picked one up and sat there for that long to finish it- I have to do things in between- But I do love to read- I have read many books in 1 days time- I’ll lay in bed in the morning and read or go up early to bed to relax and read- I often times fall asleep with a book across my face- and my glasses on- I also purchase a lot of books at yard sales- I will only read them once- and they are expensive- I do buy 1 book a month and trade with 4 other girls- usually the newest books by our favorite authors- then we swap and when we’ve all read it- It goes into our yard sale pile-

I have spend more than 7-8 hours a day, continuously reading my favorite books, but not the whole day. Because, I have never found time for me to spend the whole day for the books. That too, I have spent so much time some 2 years back, before I got used to spend time online. I should accept, my reading habit has decreased a lot for the past few years, because I spend most of my time browsing , chatting , posting etc online.

There have been some books I've spent reading whenever I can... unfortunately it's not as often anymore. The books that stands out the most for me are "Where are the Children?" and "Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince".
Nowadays I try to not read as fast so the books will last longer. Which in my case usually means I'll do other things instead.

I do. I read whenever I get a chanse and sometimes I have been doing it all day. Now most of the time i only get to do it on nighttime and then my bf is at home. We get so little time together at times that I do not wanna read.
I have been home today though from work since i am feeling really anxious about the surgery - and I did finish a book today=) Such a sad boook though,

Yes, as a matter of fact it does happened quite often. It's my reward to myself for getting things done in a hurry. I love to read and purchase all the newest novels by my favorite authors.
Our library is slow(so it seams to me)in getting the newest books by authors I like. I noticed that they are bringing back some of Stephen King's books when he was using the pseudonym Richard Bachman. The novel Blaze is now avalible in the local book stores. He is one of my favorites.
Have a happy reading day

yup i've tried that. there are those books that can't be put down because they're far too interesting. plus it irritates me when i put my book down for something else and then lose track of the story. i like suspense thrillers, you see, so you can't possible leave the book unfinished if it's all about the chase or something like that. and there are those books that are totally entertaining such as harry potter books.

I have totally done this. On a rainy day with all the chores done and the kids are away. I just read all day and night till 4 in the morning. I am so into it I am in another world all together. i love horror, fantasy novels. Once I was so scared I went around locking everything up and turning every light on. I put the phone right by me when I went to sleep. I don't really get that feeling when I read a few pages at a time while in the john but with an all day event I sure do. It is great!
