I have asthma and as far as I can remember have always seem to have problems. I have found triggers and did things to prevent these from being problematic, however it would appear that as I treat one another comes up. Like the old adage fix something and then prepare for the next weakest link. My lungs are not weak, but are susceptible top infection very easy, such as Bronchitis , the common chest cold and but thankfully not pneumonia. I have my Asthma under relatively decent control have few problems except at night and take no pills as I did when I was a child ( up to 8 a day) because the world didn't know any better yet.

I also have asthma, and so does my sister. I use inhalers and a nebulizer for mine, and try to avoid most of my triggers whenever possible. Unfortunately, in order to avoid some of them, I would never be able to leave my house, so there are somethings that I just have to put up with. My sister has it worse than I do, and yet she won't quit smoking... it really bugs me, but I guess there isn't anything I can do, she has to do it on her own.

My son has asthma too. His is under control and we try as much as possibble to keep the triggers away from him. But not all like when very active. I feel it is true that he is more likely to have bronchitis and pneumonia than my other two childern. If there is a flu or cold going around, the others will be okay in a couple days but for him it will always go into his lungs. Luckily we don't get sick that often though. Awareness today is way better than years ago. My 33 year old sister has BAD asthma which was really bad as a kid but we had that 70's shag carpets one end of the apartment to the other which never got vaccuumed and two smoking parents.... I wonder why she was always coughing? LOL
