What Would SomeOne Steal From You...and How?

Hi everyone - today I read a weird article in the paper about a couple holding up a woman in Brazil and actually then stealing her waist length hair by cutting it off withh a pair of scissors at the nape, to sell it for cash. It got me thinking about what someone would want to steal from me (besides money of course)...I don't think anyone would want my greasy hair. I thought the most probable thing would be my sunglasses, because they would be easy to take. Sometimes when I walk down the street, I am so absent minded I wouldn't even notice. So how about you?

couple of dollars? I do not carry the valet. One cannot steal the car, it is insured. Valuables are in bank locker, so house burglary is remote impossible. At the most, they can kidnap me and take me to their known hospital to steal the human organ!!!

oh that's shocking!! as for me, if you allow me exclude my wallet, cell phone, jewelleries, i guess, i am quite safe. my hair is healthy and straight but not not long. it comes upto my shoulder. it doesn't make sense to take all the trouble and trail me for that bit. lol...

In all honesty I haven't the slightest clue on what I have on me at any given time, that someone would want so badly they would do anything to get it from me. Although they would have a fight on their hands if they tried to do anything to my hair.

Wow, talk about a fight! I almost forgot about the time my college roommates came back to the dorm after late dates and thought it would be funny to cut off my hair while I was sleeping. It was waist long and would sometimes fall down over the edge of the my top bunk bed. Fortunately, one of them yelled, "No, don't do it!" and the other two were laughing so loud that I woke up and grabbed the scissors out of one girl's hand just in time. They were very ashamed the next morning when they sobered up, but it was quite a while before I was able to see any humor in that incident.

The only thing that people might want to steal from me would be my new car. Everything else in my home has no real value so it would be wasting their time trying to steal anything else. My car has excellent security systems installed so they would not get very far with that.

Well, thankfully I do not have anything anyone would want at all. So, I think I am safe her somehow for now.

Hello Urbangirl, Nice to visit with you again. This is truly bizarre! Some people just do the strangest things. I will share that I know someone who donated her long, blonde hair to be used in making wigs, for cancer patients. At the time she donated her locks, she was informed that the value of her hair was between $200-$300 (US currency). So, I guess I might consider the value of my own hair. It is mid-back in length, and a mix of light brown, blonde, and reddish hues. It's also very thick and wavy/curly. I might want to make a point of avoiding people walking down the street with scissors in their hand, eh? Other than hair, I guess the most desireable items would be my wallet/purse and my jewelry. Although, if it was winter, I have a few coats that might be a target. No fur, but wool, shearling, and leather. And, come to think of it ... I've heard of muggers demanding their victim's shoes, or boots. As I recall, this was fairly common in muggings during the heyday of Michael Jordan's 'Air Jordan's'. Followed by 'the pump' basketball shoes. I don't think I would have to worry about that, unless I was wearing my dress cowboy boots. Most of the shoes I wear are fairly bland. Although, I do often wear a pair of Z-Coil 'maryjane's', and a pair of 'MBT' walking shoes. Both, I imagine, could be hocked for descent buck. Isn't it just crazy that we're having this discussion? It seems unconsciounable to me that one should ever have to consider what might be deemed valuable by a mugger. Yet, your point is very valid. And offers us a moment of pause to consider our attire as being a possible target. Thanks for bringing this thought-provoking topic.

Hii, urbangirl!.. thank you for choosing me as a friend. i tell you about my 'stealing story'.My older brother, have a n uneducated wive. She never had a school education even when she can, she was escape always from day school. I never though that my brother bring a girl like that in the family. He always said that i will have a wive that ugly , but have a heart.than a women , beauty but have no heart. and he was deffenetely wrong. i will correct him like : i choose my spouse from the heart what ever he looks likes. Anyway, before i move to Bali island, we living together as a big happy family. she pregnant and the baby so cute(my nephew) and i love him so much. Lots of difference i wouldn't mind. she always pay attention of what im wearing, shampoo, lotion, lipsgloss and many more that i used. I assumed that she never know those things. So i teach her how to make up and scrubbing body.we having fun actually! i told her that you must looking preety for your husband.she is happy and love to learn. My mother notice that she wash my blue shoes one day. and she notice that those shoes aren't in the place anymore then she search it in every coner of the house. Then she finally found then in the closet of my sister in law!! my mother ask me if i ever gave those shoes to her and i said no. you just can't imagine how i felt in that moment, i really never though.. i mean its just a pair of shoes, that if she ask from me i would gave it to her! my brother defending his wife, and tried to strangle me in a fight after. it was horrible! living there just like not home anymore after that.then i decided to live alone working some where and here i am in bali. My mom called me sometimes said that she like to wooing other mans, and all the neightbor are talking about her.she been with a meat ball seller. im glad im not there watching, but helpless to argue about it. poor my mother and father,.. urbangirl, sorry to read this awfull story of mine. i just want to share that this story had happend and living with her just like have a scorpion under our blanket. But i learn something about it. i wasn't good enough to handle the situation and prefer to run.

Hmmm - well I might say my hair too! It's not waist-length (only shoulder length), - but it's VERY blonde, and whenever I go to countries where blonde hair is quite unusual, people come up to me in the street and try to touch my hair! I understand it's considered to be "lucky" in some cultures - personally I hate them doing it though! Other than that - I guess they would probably go for my rings - I wear at least one on each finger - and on my thumb as well - so they would probably be able to sell them for a fair bit! Cheers!

I believe long hair is quite valuable for making wigs and hair-pieces, and that is probably the reason for the theft. :-)
