the toilet clogs up? or the sink gets blocked? or the garbage disposal stops working?!? Yuck, I just spent the last five minutes unclogging the toilet AFTER my son had used it LOL. I don't know what to do with the sink and disposal though, I may just have to call someone in for that as my Macgyver skills don't extend that far LOL

Sounds like just another day here, LOL. We have a HUGE problem with tree roots clogging up our pipes. If we don't catch it soon enough we can end up with raw sewage in our tub. Yes, please feel free to insert really loud YUCK *here*. Hopefully by summer's end we are going to have new pipes in the ground. I can't waite!

I know what you mean. Our toilet is constantly getting clogged...and like you it is usually when my son is done in there....hmmmm...what are they eating...lol. We usually don't have sink problems...but maybe you could try some draino..or similar product? We don't have a disposal either...so I am not sure about that one...good luck...I hope you get it all worked out.

Yes, makes me wonder what they are eating too LOL I have never heard of draino, so I might look into that too. Thanks icequeen for responding!

If you have PVC pipes, Draino will eat them away over time.

Yes, it stinks, don't it? When I moved to my first, and last, apartment house, the toilet always overflowed on me. I am not so sure as of it was due to it clogging, I just think the septic tank was backed up. It really was terrible, I conplained many of times about the situation, and once it wasn't fixed, we moved. Also, just recently, the icemaker in my freezer got a leak in the line, and water was everywhere. The shut off valve to the water was under the house, and it was dark. We had no flashlight, so it was my idea to fix it with the water spraying into a pan. Unfortunetelly we made an even bigger mess!:P But we eventually got it fixed, so it's all better!

Must be frustrating to have to repair all those things, right? My house is fairly new (1 year old) and just imagining when I have to go through all that makes me scary. Repairs cost a lot.

I really hope you find someone that will repair your sink at reasonable prices. I convinced my husband to go to San Antonio and I will meet my brother this coming Friday, July 6th. I am very excited!

Kitchen Sink - And any sink!
That is one of my biggest Hates! At this moment the plug in my bathroom sink is broken and it's driving me crazy. It just happened out of nowhere and I don't get it. It figures it would happen when nobody is around and I can't call maintenance. I guess I'll just live with it...lol...I have no plumbing skills at all!

When my kids were little I spent hours upon hours with a plunger in my hand hovered over a toilet. One time in particular, my 2 year old son was in the bathroom one morning and I heard the toilet flush. It flushed again, and again, and again. Now wakened from my slumber I rose to find what was going on. With one last flush he stood there and said, there, it is gone. I raced over to see a huge red apple being sucked down! Well, it didn't go down. Good thing that apples rot, but it does take a while.

Ya, I hate it, especially the kitchen sink, when the water no longer flow as fast as it should. I would pour hot water and soda over it hoping that it will clear the clog. When situation gets worst, it is mom to the rescue. She always manages to get it done!

Hey bighead (if I can call you that :)), using soda helps does it? cool. I have yet to try the vinegar and baking soda tip as well. I am doing my groceries tommorrow so I will pick up both items and see how I go. Thanks for your tip my friend!

yup i do. bleah, so sorry to hear you had to deal with that. by God's grace nothing has happened to my toilet or sink at this point. i think if something goes wrong, I'll try to solve it with one of those suction sticks. if it doesn't work it's off to the yellow pages i go to holler for help. :)

We get clogged drains ALL the time because, even though we use a trap to catch my hair in the shower, it still clogs. The sink does too. I use baking soda and vinegar and a drain snake. I do this at least once a month.

LOL, maddy. I know where you're coming from. I used to have problem with the sink too. The water was too slow to go down and no matter how I tried to fix it, it just wouldn't listen and continue to block the drainage. I called in a plumber to fix it and discovered that the drainage needed a total clean up. The plumber brought in his drainage machine and began sucking out all the dirt and grimes underneath the sink. It took two full hours before my sink was back to its normal shape again.

I may have to call one in later this week if I can't get in and fix it myself. Mind you I don't want to make it worse that it already is, so i might just get a professional LOL

ha-ha-hah...maddysmommy, my friend both of us are now in a bind, aren't we? It got me around 30 minutes trying my analytical skills to successfully solved the problem of our clogged up sink. And thanks to your advice and other mylotters, I was able to cook up a cake. Yup, a real cake, and I call it mylotter's cake in honor of the advices I received from our friends in Mylot. I guess maddysmommy, you really have to call in a plumber for your garbage disposal and sink. I think Macgyver will do just that - call in a plumber
