I will be working tomorrow, July 4th. Many have the day off and will be heading to their favorite picnic spot or having family barbeques. Many of my client's are homebound and cannot get about like other people. I will share my time with them and hopefully make their day a little brighter.

I will not be working on the fourth of July and am very happy about it. It is odd to have a day off in the middle of the week but that is okay. I will be going to see the movie Transformers tomorrow and get some more clothes as I prepare for my vacation in North Carolina next week. I may spend part of the day watching the birds in my backyard as well and do some other things. Hope that your clients will be happy having you there to help them and cheer them up.

Would that be very unusual to have to work on July 4th? I realise that is a very important day in the US. When we have a public holiday, absolutely everything closes. The major hospitals will stay open, but with reduced staffing. My hubby may have to work on a public holiday, being a police officer.
I guess the people you work will be very grateful for your compmany.

I myself worked as a nurseasistant for 15 years and had to work everyother holiday, but i know what joy it brings to these people whom in some cases have no one else to visit, with hope your time with them is great and you have a great day and evening.

I will also work today. I was scheduled for the evening short shift, but will be taking the shift for day services for my co ordinator. In addition to having hubby and at least one child at home, she is eight months pregnant. I know I will be filling in more and more until I go back to work at the school mid August. I need to get one more cup of coffee, pack today's lunch for me, and one for hubby, and get dressed and leave. It should be a busy, but fun day.

Great positive outlook! I know alot of people will be working- grocery store employees, police, nurses, doctors-- all emergency personell. When I worked for the State in a home- I had to work holidays- someone had to be there-
I think you will spread your joy to these homebound people and they will enjoy their 4th alot!

While I'm fairly certain that you would rather be at home, try to stay focused on how much it means to these people! Many are likely ruminating about previous holidays with family or friends and feeling rather lonely! YOur visit will likely be the highlight of the day! Your job is such a special one with many non-monetary rewards!!! You are a special person!

I do get off at 4 tomorrow. There will be time to have a cookout with the hubby and perhaps my son and his family. Yes, the pay is better on the holiday. That is a bonus too!

That is nice that you are being with people who would otherwise be alone. We are going to a family cookout this afternoon and them to the fairgrounds to watch the fireworks tonight. It looks like it could rain though. Maybe it will rain early and not change too many plans.

My boyfriend has to work tomorrow too. We had our family get together today with a picnic at the lake. And then we watched the fireworks that was going on across the lake. It was beautiful the way it was reflecting off the water. I am sure you will brighten your clients day because you always brighten mine.

That is very generous of you, Elusive. As for myself, I will be staying home. I turned down a couple of invitations because I am basically a solitary person and a homebody. Most of the people I care about know this. My kids know they are always welcome to drop by if they want. I have never gone in for the big celebrations much except for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Sometimes I just think we have too many holidays. One of my daughters is barbecuing at her boyfriend's home and she will be bringing me some food over.
