hi people. As you probably all can imagine, i spend a lot fo time here in mylot. I love this site, and i like to express my thoughts here and share them with all of you. But my question today is if you think that this kind of sites can become addictive. You know, get to the point in which it's not funny anymore and it becomes more a necessity than a hobby.
I know that's not mylot's fault at all, but i'm just asking if you think that it's possible that it happens. Do you know any cases? has it happened to you?

good question...
my answer is no... it can't become an addiction... but it can become boring... cos we are humans and some questions and discussions are repeating over and over again... the funny part vanishes and the only motivation remains the moneys... witch are not even enough to determine an addiction...
so in my case it's just spending some time;)

more than boring, i would say it becomes tiring, becase it's true that this site demands a lot of time and a lot of effort and attention. Thus, after a while one can get tired of giving so much.

not much..that's because i have a job to do. And it's just a matter of setting your priorities. Of course, my priority is my job, because i love this. Though, i'm enjoying mylot a lot, i still need to do things i must do before mylotting. But maybe if ever, i have no job at all and just staying at home...definitely, i will get addicted to it. Happy mylotting, my friend.

yes, it can become addictive sometimes. People just leave comments that make no sense is a clear indication that some people have become addicted to it...hehe...
but expressing one's thoughts especially if it does make sense is far from the symptoms of being an addict. It just means one is using his or her mind to the fullest. Not that productive if you're in a workplace though, boss might catch you and you'd end up discussing your thoughts someplace else...

Hi there. I think to a certaint extent, mylot can become addictive to some people, especially when your having fun, meeting new peeps, making a little extra cash, and enjoy posting up and sharing what your knowledgable about, and what you've experienced...

we agree i think nardz...it provides so many good things and possibilities that addiction is always there if you're not careful.

You can control the addiction with this kind of site. No wonder mylot was made not for addicts.

Personally I think just about anything can become addictive, and I know that any kind of social site like this could definitely do so. Especially for people with little other social contact, it can become a major focus of your life.
I don't know how serious my own addiction is, but I can tell you that I have one. Even on days when I don't really have the time or feel well enough to post here, I will come and read discussions even if I'm not up to typing at all! However, since I also have a lot of other responsibilities (including a full-time job and a son), I can't let it become too big a problem for myself!

Yep, sometimes being busy is the best remedy to fight against addictions. And i agree with you when you say that almost anything can potentially become addictive...it just depends on the importance that we give it and our more or less addictive personality.

Yes, sometimes you just find yourself trying to get into the mood of the discussion by reading every single reply before posting your own response to it. This takes ages due to the length of some discussions and having something useful to write up also takes time.
But these days, I try to limit myself by only logging in once each morning and spending a maximum of 30 minutes. Any longer and it is taking too much of my own personal time away from me.

it's fine that you set your own limits you can only exceptionally exceed. That way you keep the addiction monster under control. thanks 8.

Yes, definitely. And I am a certified mylot addict. I joined mylot about a month ago when I saw it on another site being discussed by a member. The one that really got my attention was that he says it PAYS! So, since I have always been looking for ways earn extra money, I joined mylot. And I got hooked. Now it's a part of my daily routine. I come to work early and immediately open my mylot account. Then I browse for topics and discussions that interest me and type in my own posts or disussions. Then I minimize my window when its office hours and go back at it again during lunch break. LOL! Funny but I have never acted like this in a site before mylot.

I believe that any site on the internet can become addictive.Myspace.com though, is definately the worst addiction to the internet I've ever personally had.A few more that I have become addicted to are Robinhoodfund.com,Ethanpowell.com,Facebook.com,xanga.com,youtube.com, and definately yahoo.com
I can't help but check my billion different profiles every hour on the hour.I think I need a job!

I am in myspace as well. But mylot has the paying factor, and be sure that paying attracts many many people, some of which become addicted, and that's something myspace doesn't have. If they ever make a blend of mylot nad myspace it's going to be dreadfully addictive LOL.

These types of sites can definitely be very addicting. I know that I became addicted to this site after trying it out for a while and have been here getting close to a year now. It is a lot of fun plus you learn a lot of new things and learn things about other people and make new friends. Plus we get paid for our comments and topics, which most sites will not do.

Yes mylot is very addictive. It is just like a potato chip you cant just have one you have to have more. So that means that you have to keep doing discussion and you never have a life. Because you are stuck to this computer and it can tear up relationship. So good luck lightninstrike!
