how to console a friend whose crying????

I console a friend who is crying by telling him, that crying doesn't help. I say to him words like: don't cry see how ugly you are when you cry? :P :)

Sometimes just listening and saying nothing is more comfort than trying to find something to say appropriate to the situation. Most of the time, people just need someone to listen when they are upset. That is what has always worked for me. I tell the person that I am here for them, if they want to talk or if they just want to cry. Sometimes a person just needs to cry.

I think the two things not to say are "it'll be okay" and "what's wrong". Those just usually make me cry harder. Making them laugh or distracting them from the problem is the easiest way to stop the crying quickly. But sometimes it's best to just be there.

The best way is just to hug them, show them that your their for them, and to just listen. Listening is the best thing. And giving them the best advise that you can.
