Illegal fireworks--do you neighbors set them off

Ok, I live in an area where all fireworks are illegal, even sprinklers. Yet I am sure to see the neighborhood kids starting off fireworks tonight. I wouldn't mind so much if the smoke didn't cause my wife difficulty breathing.
So if you live in a neighborhood where fireworks are illegal, do your neighbors set off fireworks? And have you done anything about it?

Most of the neighbors use harmless little fireworks. But one neighbor has the big and loud ones. I am not sure where they get them at, but they usually start blasting them off about a week before the 4th and usually a week after. I just find it annoying.

I am not sure where my neighbor gets them, but they will be shooting off the fountains tonight. Freaks the cats out.

I also have three young female cats and these fireworks whatever they are freak them out. They will be running for cover all week.

My husband is miffed by the fact that we cannot set off fireworks. He states that in the Netherlands it is legal to set them off in your back yard. How safe is this really?

I think it is much wetter in the Netherlands than it is in my area. Part of the illegality around here is that the local government is trying to cut down on the number of fires.
I do not consider fireworks to be safe. Maybe they are, but I am sure to injure myself if I use them. ;)

We live in such an area and we have heard a few going off last night and even today. It is so dry here I hope that nothing bad happens to threaten our homes. I think I mentioned that here in Ohio though they sell them we have to sign a paper saying that we will be going out of the state with them. Walmart sells a package of them and I am not sure about that procedure. Might be the minor but still dangerous ones. We will have a front row seat tonight since we are in town and very near the fairgrounds where they set them off. Have a nice movie!!

the ones behind us drink all day, then tend to wait until 1am at least to set them off.
i usually let it go unless they're directly firing them near something flammable on my property.
i wouldn't doubt if the other neighbors call on them though (it's illegal here also).

Fireworks are not legal in my neighbourhood either. I pretty much stay out of it however. There is a lot of noise asscoicated with them, but it does not happen too often so I let it go. I can see how the smoke could be a problem for some people however.
cheers,

Where I live I think the rule is that fireworks that go higher than the power lines are illegal, (bottle rockets and roman candles for example) but everyone just crosses the state border to buy fireworks in a state with fewer restrictions.
I prefer watching a professional show, but the men in my family love setting off their own.

*wink* It is always fun until someone blows their hand off. What is it about men and explosions? (Note I take my life into my own hands everytime I start up the lawn mower--I don't think me and explosions should be in the same room.)

My neighbors set some off. As far as I know they're illegal, but they don't bother me and my son was having the time of his life watching them. This was the first year that he's seen fireworks.
I did call the police a few years ago when people were setting off fireworks right in front of our house (and it wasn't us or either of our immediate neighbors). I wouldn't have had a problem, except that it was about 2 in the morning and my son kept being woke by them. Not to mention doing it in front of our house -- not in the street, but on the sidewalk and very close to our car. It ticked me off. When I told them to stop they laughed. When the police arrived (they were right around the block and came without flashers or sirens) the kids weren't laughing anymore.
