Many of you have seen the photography work of my daughter that I have posted on mylot. Those photos she took with either a Kodak Easyshare or a Sony Cybershot.
My daughter has saved her money and done lots of shopping. She has recently purchased her newest camera. It is a Nikon D40. She is a typical teenager. So she named the camera "Lance". LOL
Lance and her now go everywhere together. They have been together for about a week now. My daughter has taken over 1,000 photos so far. I am posting one of the new photos here today. I encourage you to look at her old photos and this new photo. Then give your opinion about the new photo. Do you see a difference? Is there a difference? Is the clarity different or better?

This daughter is the baby of the family. She plays softball. This the daughter that writes poetry. I think her sister caught a whimsical side to her.

Stunning photo. Your daughter definitely has a photographer's eye. This photo looks to me to be much better than the previous ones.

I think the difference is the new camera. I see a definite clarity with camera that I did not see with the other two. Let's see what she can do when she learns to use the special effects and settings. This could get interesting.

Well, it is a good thing we have 4 computers. My old computer that is in my office has two big hard drives and the desktop in the living room has two or three huge hard drives. We also have several large jump drives. Some of the computers are networked together so we can easily share the photos between the computers. Bring your wi-fi laptop in September so we can sit on the porch and do silly things like talk to each other. LOL If it comes down to it, I have one more computer in a closet but it is old and slow. It will hold photos though. Then there is also the option of burning the photos into CD's. My daughter can take a lot of photos before we have a storage problem to worry about.

She is still in high school but we are now looking at colleges for her. We have been told that the best college for her is in Chicago. We have so much research to do and only a few years to get her ready. Yes, we are also hoping she continues in this direction. She won't get rich but she can make a living in the field of study.

I have let my daughter know your thoughts. She thanks you very much. She is looking at colleges now and is planning on attending after she graduates high school. She desires to work for National Geographic.

I am not really an expert in this because I do not really see the difference. To me, all cameras are the same and they do an equal job regardless.

I read all of the wonderful comments that everyone wrote. I called my daughter over to the computer and had her read them also. Thank you so much for encouraging my daughter to continue. Lance and her are outside taking pics of the sunset tonight.

I am glad you noticed the differences in her photos. She is discovering new things quite often. She also experiments with the settings and light sources.

She has been learning by trial and error. Every Christmas and birthday, we buy her instructional books which she reads from cover to cover. Also, she has spent time talking to professional photographers who have been kind enough to look at her work and advise her. They had told her what to look for and what to try. she is adjusting her high school classes to include preparation for college. And the colleges she is looking at are all top of the line for photography training. She knows she needs to have business classes and science classes as well as media classes. Her education has to be well rounded in order to be of the best benefit to her future.
The two main areas that she is interested in are photography for a CSI type unit or working for National Geographic.
