My sister who was expecting her fifth baby in August, went into labor in the early morning of June 28 and ended up with an emergency c-section at 33 weeks. He is a beautiful, and relatively healthy baby boy. His birth weight was 3 lbs 3 oz and he was 16 inches long. He has been in the NICU but is nursing well and has been holding his body temperature well. We are hoping he will be able to come home within a week from today. During the time my sister has been in the hospital, I have had the honor and joy of helping to care for my other nephews and niece. Some times it has been tough, especially when I have 5 kids under 7 (3 of my own , plus her youngest 2), but we have had a ton of fun. I am looking forward to the baby coming home and adding to the joy. In the meantime, I am always looking for fun activities for this large group of kids. There are 4 girls (ages 12, 6, 4, and 7 months) and 3 boys (ages 9, 6, and 2). Tell me what fun activities you do with your nieces and nephews.

First off congrats on the new addition. The baby and your sister will be in my prayers. Now for what to do with all of those kids goodness that is a lot of kids. Umm... A good movie night is always nice get a few good movies pop some popcorn and enjoy. Coloring books for the younger ones might help also. Im lost because my kids just play outside until they get bored with that. Then we watch movies together until bedtime. Good luck!!!

Thank you for responding and thank you for your prayers. Fortunately, I do not often have allthe kids at once. iusually get only 2 of her kids at a time, but there are occasionally days that I have all 4 of them (plus my own). I appreciate your suggestions. Playing outdoors is great most of the time and I had not thought of having a movie night simply because I usually do not have the tv on. They are used to watching it whenever they want so I try to get them doing other things, but a special movie night is not a bad thing either.

I am an aunt of 4 girls and 5 boys and my newest nephew is due in August, which will make 6 boys. I love them all dearly, even though we are 1000's of miles apart. I have 2 of my own and hate that they are unable to grow together. Anyway, Congrats on the newest addition and may there be many happy memories in the future. Oh, swimming is always a blast for all kids and playgrounds/parks, plus that is usually free, lol.

Thanks for responding. I love having so many nephews and my niece. My other sister also has 2 boys and I have a brother who I suspect will begin his family within the next few years too. I know how difficult it is to live far from them though as we recently moved back to NY from Florida. It was so hard being away from all the little ones. Thank you also for your suggestions. I am actually being the "mean" aunt on Monday and bringing her older kids to her house to help me clean it top to bottom. Then I will take them for ice cream and to play at the water park.

Wow, that's a lot of kids!!! It really sounds like you have your hands full with all of them. You are a fantastically wonderful Aunt for taking care of all of those children for your sister, as well as your own. Wow!!!! You're probably an amazing mother too.

Thanks so much. It is great having a large family. I have a 7 month old and had pre-eclampsia during the pregnancy, putting me on bed rest. My sister, and many other friends and family members, jumped in and helped out. We are not the closest family emotionally, but we will certainly do whatever it takes to help each other in times of need.

I still don't have a niece and nephew from my siblings but I have from my cousins and they age 5, 4, and 3 in the girls and one boy who is in 5 years old right now. We always go in the park every afternoon and we bring their small bikes so they can bike in the park and play in the swings and slides. It is so fun to see the kids playing and having bonding time to each other. They also make me happy when I saw them talking to each using baby talk but they can still understand each other what they are trying to say.
