Chipper has been tearing it up this year. If had stayed healthy the pass 3 years, he would closing in on 500 this season. I hope he stays healthy the rest of the season, because he is the best hitter in the lineup when he's on fire.

What was the run in with Smoltz? I haven't been watching it so I'm not sure what happened.
But Chipper will definitely make it to 500! I'd say within the next three seasons he'll make it. He's one of those players that continues to get better with age. Well when he's not injured.

Smoltz made an insinuation to the media that Chipper was not hurting as bad as it appeared, or not bad enough to be missing games. He denied he meant anything by it, but Chipper definitely took offense. I don't think anybody has ever questioned his heart, but as you correctly say, he has been injured a lot the past two-three years. If he can get to 500, it will be automatic Hall Of Fame, and I think he certainly deserves it. Four more solid years of 30 homers a year and he will be right there.

Chipper is great! I remember when he first started back in 95 or so...back in the Jeff Blauser, Fred McGriff and Dave Justice days. John Smoltz must have been there forever now!

wow. today I still think on these things. He just got 2500 hits, 1500 RBI, and 500 doubles. I think he is at 434HRs.
