Lydia Monroe. I don't know why, I just thought it sounded classy and beautiful. Maybe a little left over from the Marilyn Monroe era. My name was just so common and plain. There's someone on here with the sign on name Lydia and that makes me think of when I was young. I don't know, just one of those funny things you think about and remember. Plus when my son was younger he wondered why I did not name him Sage. That would be a great name. Maybe he'll name his own child that one day. What did you want yours to be?

I still dont like my name just like i didnt when i was a kid. My names Robyn, and I just dont like the way it rolls of the tongue when I say it. Im not sure what name I wanted when i was a kid, but I always wanted a trendy name. One that sounded cool but wasnt to common.

I think Robyn is a great name. Mine was Debbie. Do you know how many Debbies there were in the 80's? :) At least your name was spelled with a y instead of an i. I always thought it was so cool to have a y in a girl's name. I don't know why, maybe it was because a lot of us started using y in our names to try to be different. Like I would sign my letters and things Debby for a while.

Haha funny you say that actually. I love how mine is a y and not an i just becuase I think it looks better. But friends of mine who have y's in their name..just started putting i's to be different. My friend Kayla started spelling her name Kaila cuase she though it was better. But the good thing about being Robyn, is that its not totally common. At my highschool, outtta 500 students, there was probably, 3 Robyns? that was good.

I have always hated my name- it's so horrible I'm not even going to tell you what it is. Since I was small I wanted to change it, I have these long lists of nice names. Among them, Evangeline, Freya and Satchel. I know, they're strange, but at least they're not common and drab and ugly like my real name is.

It's ok, I think from seeing this that we all feel misnamed. and wantes something exotic and original. But we make our ownselves original as we grow.

Well, I did not really think about it that much I guess because I always loved my name and it is Lydia by the way. So, I loved it more than my last name and now I have a new last name that fits perfectly with my first name.

I only thought about mine when my son wanted to change his name to Sage when he was 7 years old. It made me smile. I had to tell him he wasn't able to give his input at the time. lol And then there is Lydia on here with the pretty pic for her avatar. That reminds me too.

Yep. My surname always got me and my siblings into trouble. my family name before was a kind of freshwater fish, so my playmates would often tease me about it. I am glad I have a different surname now LOL.

I am glad for you also. I just thought my name was boring, but I forgot about how children really can be mean and pick apart names or add to them.
