My favorite flower is the lilac. In Toronto where I spent my first 20 years the lilacs bloomed right around my birthday (end of May). I would receive them as gifts and everywhere I would go I would smell the sweet fragrance of them.
I moved to a cooler northern rural area in Nova Scotia over 11 years ago. Here they bloom around the end of June but still every time I smell them I think of home and my youth with fond memories. What is your favorite flower and why?

I like how easy they are to grow. My kids have so much fun planting them. Then we get to eat the seeds at the end. Thanks for the post

My favorite flower is the rose, any color of it. Its scent is just so heavenly.
What I really like to do is buy roses that are still on their bud stage, put it in water and watch it bloom day by day!!!
Another flower that I also like (but not as much as the rose) is the Stargazer flower, it also lasts for a long time.
Cheers!

I really don't have a favorite flower. I love the difference that flowers in general bring and the freedom to enjoy all the aspects of each kind of flower. I have colors that I like more than others, but not one I will call as the one and only color or flower. But thats Me. I like verity and a broad range to choose from. Does that make me bad? I think Not.

I also love the lilac. They are my favorite color and they smell so wonderful. In Colorado the lilacs bloom really early in the spring. I have one outside of my front porch, and the smell permeates the air. We had a row of lilac bushes about 20 feet long. My grandma had a huge lot of them as well, and we made trails and secret rooms in them. It was quite amazing.
My favorite is the purple Iris though. I'm not sure why. I know we had lots of them when I was growing up. I am not that fond of my childhood, but these still remain my favorite.

I was not too fond of some parts of my childhood also(left home at 16) but sometimes were sweet and innocent like my birthday, maybe that's why I like them. I have 4 bushes in my small front yard that are just beautiful and smell great. Wouldn't mind 20 feet of them though. The backyard is for the veggie garden so I can't put more there. LOL thanks

I too love lilacs- they are so potent- You can smell them forever- We have some areas in which the roads are lined with lilac bushes- I love to drive by with my window open and just breath! I love them- We always cut them also and bring them in the house- Lilacs are the best- I prefer the dark purple ones.

My all time favorite is a white carnation with red streaks. My mother used to grow them in our back yard when I was a child so they alwasy remind me of her. They are not always easy to find and I have tried growing them without much success. Guess I will never have her green thumb; she could make just about any plant or flower thrive.
My second favorite is a tie between roses and orchids. My very close friends grow orchids on their patio, they are beautiful flowers but take a lot of care.

I don't really have a favorite flower. I love them all. Sometimes we would go to a rose garden that's open to the public during the summer time. My spouse and little boy takes time to smell the roses.
In our backyard, we grow iris's, tulips, bleeding hearts, grape hyacinth, hosta's and other stuff.
I also love roses and carnations. Each flower has their own beauty. That's why it's hard to choose :-)

Wow that sound so beautiful. There does come a peace when you look at the beauty of a flower garden, forget the bills, messy house, work etc and just feel the beauty of the flowers. I guess that's where the phrase comes from "stop and smell the roses" LOL thanks

Lavender has always been my favorite fragrance. But, when it comes to flowers nothing beats a beautful stalk of gladiolas. I don't even like roses that much, not even for Valentines day. I don't know why I'd love such an old fashioned flower, I just do. Perhaps it is because gladiolas are the first flowers that my spouse brought me. I'm a romantic at heart! I've never forgotten. I like carnations and marigolds too. I just love their colors.

I just posted a similar post a few minutes ago. I didn't think to look to see if there was one already.
lilacs are beautiful. My favorite is the Byrd of Paradise.
no specific reason. I first saw one about 3 years ago and fell in love with it. They just have so much beauty, and are pretty unique. They are absolutely beautiful to watch bloom.

My favorite flower is daisies. I really think they are beautiful naturally, and you can also get daisies which have been dyed unnatural colors with food coloring. Also, daisies are hardy flowers, and last a while before they start to droop. Every so often, I like to buy myself a big bouquet of brightly colored (dyed) daisies, and then I have a nice splash of color in my apartment for a week or two.
