I really try to remember that these are people who are working....they have been hired and have a job to do. They also help our economy believe it or not...and many of these people are disabled.... I would rather see anyone working then not working....Its just there are some different perspectives to look at....As long as they dont get disrespectful then I wont be rude...

I used to work as a telemarketer and for obvious reasons, I didn't last long at the job. I know other people who worked there longer than me though. I know that job wasn't their first choice either but if you need to pay bills, people have to work, even thought you dislike the job.
Anyway, now that telemarketers call your house, you can request politely to be taken off the list. Let them do their sales pitch first, then request it. Do not yell or cuss at them while requesting either because it might cause them to retaliate and they might not take you off it. Just like if you are mean to the server at the restaurant, they can spit on your food. So be courteous to the telemarketer as you do with the server :-)
I am also surprised since I've told so many telemarketers for me to be taken off the list, that the number of calls have decreased too :-)
*Important* If you have to fill out anything in the future, like paperwork or surveys, that request for your phone number, do not give out your main phone number(s) anymore, to prevent unwanted telemarketers from calling in the future! Instead, get a Free online phone # from Private Phone--- http://www.privatephone.com
Signing up is free (I don't know how they stay in business though) and this way, you would never have to hear your phone ring. You will receive email notifications, every time you receive a new message. And you can check your messages on the phone too. This way when people call your new phone number, they will hear several rings (you won't hear it, they will) and they will receive your answering machine/voice mail. They will think they called a regular phone (when it isn't).
Hope my advice helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi aln1216. I get these marketing calls too and it is frustrating. Most the time, especially when it's my husband who answers he doesn't let them finish what they have to say and they ask them to take us out of their list. Take cae aln1216!

I try to have fun with them. I don't like to be rude because they are just working. Once I got a call from Direct TV (I am already a subscriber). This guy began to talk wanting me to buy another channel. I didn't want it, but I wanted to have some fun, so I began to ask him lots and lots of information.
At the end of the conversation he was bored and I could sense he just wanted to stop talking.
He didn't call me again, I wonder why :)
