Do you take the advice of other members??

Many well-seasoned members of our community have posted discussions giving advice, hints and tips to us younger members. I have read many of them. I have even responded to some of them. When I start a posting, I sometimes think about the advice that I have been given. I have found that some of the ideas are very helpful. So to you older members who have shared your wisdom and experience, Thank you!!!!
My question is: Do you take the advice you are given by other members to heart?? Or do you read it and blow it off???

I pick through it and figure it out what sounds about right and what doesn't. When I first started here I was given some questionable advice that I am glad I didn't go with. One was get as many friends as possible but don't worry about not responding to their posts. You just want them for exposure. I didn't take that tip and I am glad I didn't. I see the friendship as an agreement to be a dependable member who will look at each and every post they put out. Of course we can't respond to all since all may not pertain to us. However we can at least read them to consider it or not.
So again I listen all advice, but I think it through before I decide to use it or not.

I am real good at listening to the advice and wisdom of the older members. I have to admit I am not real good at following all of their advice and wisdom. I read a lot of postings and rate them and yet there may be times that I do not actually respond to them. This happens because I don't know what to say or how to respond properly. There may be so many postings that what I want to say has already been said by several other members. What would be the point of repeating things? I try to contribute something different to each posting.

hi there , I take it in and try to follow it up , but to be honest it is best to find your own way about and get to know how some people write and what interests you , I find that if I am interested in a discussion that I can write more of an answer to it ( if you get what I mean ) I think we all get better as we get used to the site , Good luck , I really love this site xx

For me, it depends on the advice given. I have seen those discussions in which someone is asking for advice, & others where the discussion started is advice in itself. In both cases, a lot of ideas do get pointed out, some good, some questionable, but at the same time, what might not seem like good advice to me may actually be good advice for someone else.
When first starting on MyLot I had started a topic seeking help on finding good discussions to reply to. It was also at the time that new features & things were added, & probably one of my first discussions.
All in all, as a community, problems that might seem unsolvable to one person - well, someone usually does think of at least some kind of solution that makes whatever problems you're having more bearable, & sometimes, someone will actually come up with a good way to solve the problem.

Getting another point of view can be very eye opening sometimes. I find some ideas to be new, refreshing and quite helpful. But not all ideas are that way. Some can be very misleading.

Don't you just hate it when you see the rubbish. Sadly, there are some who will follow that advice. They get misguided when that happens. It is so sad.

I definitely value the advice that has been given to me by the members here. So many people have helped me out here, and it is truly amazing to have so many thoughtful caring people in one place. To me it is just not right to ask for advice from others, just for the sake of asking. That's just plain disrespectful, and something I could never do. I also would like to thank the members on here that have helped me and others through our problem. And thank you to you too royal for being such an awesome friend too.

I listen to sense.
If a member came across and said something sensible, made clear, something which I agree on sure.
Otherwise I accept there views and get on with my own life. I wouldn't take advice if I didn't agree, would be a waste of time to try something I wasn't willing to do. Such as if I posted a discussion about being addicted to fast food and someone said "you shouldn't go to fast food places" I would cut down but not stop.

If the advice is helpful then yes, if not then that's ok and I do thank them for responding.

Hello royal52gens. I think it would have to depend on the advice given. In many cases the information can be very beneficial and informative. I can't tell you how many scams I have avoided with the help of other MyLot members. Not to mention all the tips I've received that have really helped. There's nothing like an extra pair of eyes to help you see some of the things you may have missed. With MyLot, you get the help of lots of experienced eyes. ;)

I appreciate the insight that is given about how to write a better discussion and what is the best interest group to post it in; also how to get more responses. I agree I have been able to avoid some things because of warnings that members have shared. I also have received some wonderful tips.

It depends. Of couse I have to scan it first and select the one that i think the best advice for me. And after doing that it's the time that i have to take that advice.

It depends if I like the advice or not and then I will consider it, and not dismiss it all together.

I learned all I know from other users!LOL I try to remember the things I have been told. The best help I got was from the FAQ. I often send people to them, as well as mylot's discussions to help them. Of course the guide lines are a must, but these things are great helps.

Hello royal. Most of the discussions I posted are impersonal and generally geared toward our everyday lifestyle. I can guess the age bracket of each member right away based on the essence of their response.
Most older users tend to give more relevant advices and insights and I do appreciate their wisdoms. I will weigh their opinions and see if I can use their advices to full advantage.

For me it depends on my question or problem. I read every response but think about them very carefully especially if it's important to me. I'm very cautious when someone says they are an "expert" or doctor or nurse because anyone can say that and we have no way of knowing if it's the truth. I would never ask a very important health question on the internet for that reason.
