I am five feet, three inches tall, and pleasingly plump. After I had a minor accident, my mother accompanied me to the emergency room. The triage nurse asked for my height and weight, and I blurted out, "Five-foot-eight and 125pounds," While the nurse pondered this information, my mother leaned over me. "Sweetheart," she gently chided, "this is not the Internet."*LOL*How many of you did lie online to people you talked to about your age, height, weight, and status? And Why?=) I usually lie about my age. Yes I do, I tell them I'm older than I am really. As for the height and weight, I'm ok with it. As for status, I am married to my boyfriend. =)

I find it creepy when men online ask me what I look like so I usually tell them something like.. I'm a 5'2" 300 pound former man or something. Basically exactly what they want to hear.

Hahaha... that's a very good way to way off people you don't really like talking to ey. I have tried this one before, but on different levels. When someone I didn't like really buzzed me a lot, asking questions about me, I told him I was too fat that I couldn't walk without support. I have no more neck nor have I seen my feet in a long time. *LOL* He was really really disturbed. *LOL* But it worked! hahaha =)

*LOL* And they believe you? *LOL* Yeah, I'm also annoyed with that question. I'm specially annoyed if we're using the webcam and they want mt to 'stand up' because they want to see my 'height' I mean, what?! you still can't measure height with that strategy. Actually I've come to realize they just want to see my figure (how big my boobs are, how small my waist or how fat or thin I am) sheez.

So meaning you can lie to other people? First, your doctor couldn't be lied at even though you may want it, because they'll have laboratories testing for them to find out if you're telling the truth. Next, your mother can never be lied at because just seeing you talk would make her notice you are lying. Plus she's your mother so even though she knows you're lying she'll forgive you. So no sense lying at all. Last, the teacher or the professor, you can't also lie because there are exams and she'll find out if you really learned something or not. These samples are basic people who as a person could be lied at, but because of their background there are ways to catch the liars. =)

Lol... your story is funny. Your mother knows that you cheat in the internet. But yeah, people often lie about their personal information when chatting through the internet. But I do not lie, I hate lying even though it's my first time chatting. But if you lie for the right reasons, then it's perfectly okay. Have a nice day friend.

Hi thanks for replying. And No, that's a joke I took out somewhere. Not really 'my' joke. *LOL* Yeah I think people with the right reasons would be ok if they did lie. But I just don't like people who continually lie to you even though you are trying to be as real as possible. And yes, sometimes we do need to lie because there are a lot of people who take advantage of our honesty. What would you do if the person you are chatting online with, is lying all the time? Would you keep the friendship? How do you tell him/her?

There is no point in hiding any information I believe, one should be as true as possible. Kudos to you for your free and frank disclosure. You are bold enough to admit what you say and what you should not.

Hi! Dear! Are you asking me or confirming...whether I am true to people I talk online? I have already given my reply. You say - Wasn't ever tempted to lie? Anybody can feel tempted to lie any time. I do not feel tempted right now. Cannot predict or make a guess about others, whether they hide something......for hiding a lie, I believe, we will have to speak hundred lies...and that's not a good thing. So those who hide the information......will have to be very cautious, lest they are not caught, off guard. Happy posting! Have a Nice Day! Deepak

Thank you. So you're always true to the people you talk to online? Wasn't ever tempted to lie? I'm guessing that maybe others would lie because they are afraid of people looking for them, personal infos is a ticket to discovering who you are. Thanks for the post. Happy posting!

well,on internet, some lie, others don't.there is existing nothing unimaginable because of the discrepancy of value view or something like that.In fact,I seldom tell somebody in detail about my privacy before he or she becomes my friend.lol...... However, not every lie is bad.some ,named as lie of goodwill ,are worthy of being called for.personally i think, whether he is on line or off line, what he lies is not wrong as long as his start is well-meaning.

What do you mean about this line: What he lies is not wrong as long as his start is well-meaning. ? Yeah I think you are right about telling someone about private stuff if you don't really know him/her very well yet. But what do you do? Do you lie, or do you say 'ask me later' or do you say 'secret' :D *LOL* =)

I don't really know the exact reason why. But I guess they're tired of their 'real' lives and would like to be interesting for once. Like someone who says he's not married maybe looking for someone else. Or is not really happily married. Those who lie about their age may want to talk to a specific age group that they don't belong to anymore. There was once a chatmate I had talked to, I asked him straight out how old he was and he said he was 40. When I opened his cam, goodness, there was a very old man around 60s. He denied a lot until finally I told him that he looked like my grandfather and he admitted. Sheez. There are lots of reasons. I sometimes lie about my age. I say I'm 30 even though I'm 27. I do this in order for some people to quit bugging me because I'm old (men prefer younger women ~ for reasons we all know). Sometimes, I also say I'm married even if I'm still single. This keeps out the 'bad company' of men trying to look for girlfriends online.

I put everything that talks about my physical appearance, that best describes me. I even uploaded my own photos to be known by others, to which I think is also a sign of sincerity. Back then I was a little hesitant to post details about myself, but never did I lie on what and who I am!;)

Well if they lie, then I guess that's up to themselves. I believe that people have conscience, but if they don't, then I just let them be. If that makes them happy, then I don't have any justification to make to let them know that what they're doing is WRONG.

I don't see any reason to lie to them, but I also don't see any reason why I need to divulge all of this information to them. I don't mind telling my age if they wish to know, but what possible reason could they have for needing to know my height or weight. I admit that I am overweight, but as for my exact weight, it really isn't anyones business. I don't lie about it though, I simply decline to tell them. As for my status, I am a single mother, who has been raising her children on her own for the past eleven years.

Yeah, I understand what you mean. Maybe there are people 'in search' for their ideal partners that's why they want to know the person both internally and physically, well I don't know really. Yeah you're right in terms of not having the need to divulge all the information. The more they don't know about us, the more they'll not know how to hurt us anyways. Thanks for posting. Have a great day ahead. =)

I'm usually pretty honest. The only thing I usually lie about it my weight. I'm 9 months pregnant now, and was still carrying baby weight from the last baby. So i usually give the weight i hope to get down to instead of what i'm currently at lol.

*LOL* That's ok. Weight is a little bit ok. Except when a person lies about his age, height, and weight to please someone. Then when they do meet you'll see a lot of 'untrue data' Haha.. This topic reminded me of someone I met online. The guy was so full of himself and really really really wanted to meet me for some reason. I declined but sooner (too shut him up) agreed to meet. Well, to the surprise of my life, I discovered he lied so much. One thing really pissed me off. He told me he was 5'7 (5 feet 7inches) tall, but when we met, he was shorter than me! I am 5'3! *LOL*

When I first chatted online I did. I didn't want anyone to know who I was, what I looked like and so forth. As I got to know people then I let it slip on how old I was and what I look liked. I am 5 foot 9 and 192 pounds which is very overweight for my height, but that is ok, cause I was much heavier two weeks ago LOL

A lie is type of deception in the form of an untruthful statement with the intention to deceive. To lie is to state something one believes to be false with the intention that it be taken for the truth by another. A liar is a person who is lying, who has lied, or who lies repeatedly. Lying is typically used to refer to deceptions in oral or written communication. Other forms of deception, such as disguises or forgeries, are generally not considered lies, though the underlying intent may be the same; however, even a true statement can be considered a lie if the person making that statement is doing so to deceive. In this situation, it is the intent of being untruthful rather than the truthfulness of the statement itself that is considered. --- Hehehe, well. Maybe we're all in denial. *LOL* But yeah, I hope we've not lied at all. Hersmar4ever is right, witholding information is not lying. So maybe at one point or another, we witheld information thus, we didn't lie. =) Good luck to us!

Creepy questions? Like what? Some of the creepy questions that I have encountered is 'where do you live (exact address)' that's creepy for me because why would someone who you just met want your home address, kinda like stalkers. *LOL* another I could think of is asking for 'vital statistics' that's creepy and if he's infront of me face-to-face he'll surely get slapped. What weird/creepy questions have you encountered?

well, im a guy! and when im dealing w/ people online, there are times that i do lie and there are times that i do not! for me its just a matter of having a plain sense in a communication...and if that person im dealing online has that plain common sense, its possible that i might tell the person the real information about myself! and in fact who would eventually give a damn about knowing the exact info through the internet! right?

No, I don't lie about things like that...in fact, I'm real careful about what I say and where I say it. With some communities that comes up and I'm honest without giving too much personal information away and in some of the communities I belong to that kind of stuff never comes up.

yes, I do that too... I lie about my age but other thing else is depend. I work on this site and I have to deal with a lot of outside searchers and they always talk sh*t and so I can't tell them the true. However, in real person I dont lie and I like to be honest with people around me. I do what i say and I do what I promise. Online is different

LOL that's funny. i used to when i was younger because it was fun. I thought 'this person doesn't know me and probably never will, so why not' i changed my hair color, eye color, name, height, everything. Now i dont. especially on here, because i figure if you want people to be honest with you, then you have to start with being honest with them. So here are my stats i'm 4'9" i weight 112 and i have brown eyes and hair my name is chrys and i'm proud of who i am.

But I'm afraid to do so, because I tend to forget what I lie about! hahahhaa... So now your completely honest ey. *LOL*.. So how do you deal with people who lie to you online?
10 Jul 07
I usually tell everything that is true when I'm dealing people online, because sincerity is the best thing so they will have to trust you in what you are offering them. And even if they don't see i believe that they can feel if you are just making a story.

Yeah I do, but only when I feel the website is either sketchy or I feel that the service they are providing should be given without them knowing every significant demographical detail about me (e.g. to view the New York Times online). There is actually a free website that lets you create a false identity (legally). It will spit out a credit card number, name, address, and email information. Off the top of my head I can't remember the address. I found it in a book called "Rule the Web"
