What do you order at the bar??

I turned 21 in February and until recently I never went out to bars. Now that I'm old enough to go, I have no idea what to order!! Unless the place has a menu, I feel lost and usually just order a long island. I don't know the names of many drinks because when I'm at home I just mix whatever alcohol I have with whatever juice I have and voila! What do you order when you go out? What's in it? I'm tired of just getting long islands! I tend to like things that are fruity and sweet. Oh, and I hate beer...

As I started drinking in bars at 15 years old I have been through them all. I started off with Martini, then when poor Thunderbird!(bad mistake) Once you are established the harder booze is better, Gin and Tonic, Whisky, Rum, Vodka, Southern Comfort, and add your own mixer, orange juice, coke, lemonade or just drink it straight. Snakebite is a killer, lager and cider with a dash of blackcurrent-days will be wiped from your memory! I usually order pints of lager now with a whisky chaser, shame on me! I hope you have a great time and if you do you won't remember it LOL

I haven't been to a bar in a long time but there were a few drinks that I liked to get. I would order either a screwdriver, fuzzy navel, amerretto and orange or once in awhile an Alabama Slammer. The last one is really sweet but it will kick your butt if you are not careful.lol.

Try a nice tall spiced rum hurricane! They are the best! I also love mai tai's. I like the fruity drinks, too. Rum runners have a special place in my heart.

I love Stoli Raz and Sprite. It's Stoli Rasberry vodka and sprite. Or you can try the same vodka with redbull...it tastes like a flintstones vitamin!

Thanks for all the tips ;) I think my biggest fear is going to order a drink and saying something the bartender doesn't know and being asked whats in it... then feeling dumb because I dunno!!!

I usually ask if they have a "special" drink. Some places have a drink that they call their own, and I usually like to try them. I also have asked the bar-tender to just make me something - either fruity or not, depending on my mood. If I like it I ask what's in it or what it's called. If I don't like it, I remember not to get it again. My favorite is a margarita, on the rocks, with salt.

That's a good idea. The bar at the end of my street has a special drink that is so delicious MMM.. I will try asking for something fruity next time I'm out. Thanks.

What I order from the bar depends upon the mood I am in and how badly I am willing to go off my diet! I really enjoy a 'Seabreeze' which is a mixutre of grapefruit juice, vodka and a spash of grenadine/cranberry juice. It is kind of tart, kind of sweet. I love them! I also love a really good margarita on the rocks..but they had loads of calories. An old standby for me is gin and tonic. As you mentioned, I love Long Islands too! I like the alternate verison of the Long Island called a South Beach (I belive) that uses cranberry juice rather than coke!

Okay that South Beach sounds a lot better because I really don't even like soda, especially coke. I don't know why I always order it.. Thank you

Oh, dear. There are so many different mixed drinks out there. It all depends on your taste. I like different drinks. Margaretas, vodka gimlets, gin &tonic, whiskey sour, rum and coke. Of course I have not been to a bar recently so I dont know what people are drinking. My step daughter likes white russians.

I think you can ask the waiter or any attendant to guide you on what drinks to order. I am sure they will all be happy to assist you while you are in their bar. This could also be educational for you, at least. Just be sure not to exceed your capacity in drinking and I think it would be better to tag along some friends.

Well anything wet and alcoho;ic really works - oh yeah and better if it is cold! Avoid gin - gin is the devils drink, not only does it smell and taste awful - it also makes you very ill! My advice is to experiment and see what you like - we all have different tastes - but don't test everything in one night - you won't remember what you liked! lol xx

I love margaritas. Most of the time anything fruity or frothy is right up my alley--tequila sunrise, mai tai, pina coloda, daquari (banana, strawberry). My hubby used to work at a bar so I get a chance to try lots of different drinks when he gets the blender going LOL He made me strawberry margaritas with fresh strawberries one year when we were wrapping presents for one of the kids birthdays LOL

If you're looking for something tasty and sweet, try an amaretto sour or an amaretto stone sour. I think the only difference between them is that one uses grenadine and the other does not. Margaritas (pretty much any way they make them) are another favorite of mine, though I prefer them with no salt. If you find a place that you go to often, ask the bartender to suggest some drinks, or to surprise you. That's always fun. :)

My tipple of choice is Jack Daniels and Coke. I would hesitate to suggest that you work your way thorugh the menu in a bar hun, but sometimes it's worth picking out a couple and trying them out.

If you like things that are fruity and sweet then you HAVE to try a Malibu & Pineapple. It is Malibu (fruit rum) mixed with pineapple juice, or you can get it mixed with a Sprite or 7 Up. It is soooooooooo good! That is my favorite drink when I go out! You could also try a candy apple, that is a good sweet drink too!

I no longer go out to bars, wooitsmolly, but I have always liked the strawberry daquiri (sp). They are sooo good. You can even buy the mix and make them at home. My daughter just loves the applem martini, or appletini, she says it is da bomb. I'm not acquainted with many of the newer drinks.

I have only been to a bar three times I believe. I'm 27 and never had been to a bar in my life until 2 days before I turned 26 lol. Whenever I had been to the bar I had chose a smirnoff or a mikes hard lemonade. Once in awhile I would get a coors to.
