My life here in Australia!

As a follow up to my discussion before about me leaving the Philippines. Now that I am here in Australia already, I just want to share how my life went for the first month of my stay here. Australia is a beautiful and quiet place compare to the Philippines. I grew up there with my big family then when I came here, all I have is my mum and my uncle. Well, my life here is totally different from the life I used to have in the Philippines. Though I am still having a difficult time adjusting now, cause I don't have any friends yet and a work so I just stay here at home. I thought it was so easy to look for a job but I was wrong because I don't have any experience yet. Hope I can get one soon. And I don't what tomorrow has for me, but I am looking forward to having a job and a friend also. :-)

i think you and your family are very brave and corageous because it takes a lot of courage leaving one's country and starting a new and different life elsewhere. of course this is a new start of your life and you need time to get accustomed to changes..and of course it is essential finding some friends and creating a new social environment..so be sure that I am here wishing you all the best..I do hope you find a job as soon as possible because this is always a good way yo start and working you can meet new people. good luck

Living in another country is very difficult. Keep your chin up and stay positive its the best thing you can do in that situation. DOnt get discouraged, remember things will happen exactly when they are suppose to happen.

Yeah, its really difficult. It's good that I have my mother with me, so at least, someone is there to help me cope up with things here.

Good for you. I watch some programs on Australia from time to time on tv and I think it's a really beautiful country with lots of green and open space. I still want to go to Australia for sky diving if I could in the near future (before I get too old really, otherwise, I wouldn't have the guts). I am sure it takes awhile to adjust to new environment and people and way of living. Sure you will do it! Just be patient, sometimes we need to wait for the good things to happen *winks*.

I'm glad to hear you arrived safely and are settling in OK! Yes, job hunting is often difficult, and it can really get you down. I'm sure you'll find something soon, even without any work experience. Many places prefer to train people to do things THEIR way anyhow. Inexperience does narrow your choices, but I think anyone who is truly willing to work will find a job. Is there any place for you to go during the day to hang out? Maybe you could volunteer at the nearest hospital or old people's home? Volunteering is an excellent way to meet people and can lead to job opportunities, too -- either where you're volunteering or through one of the other volunteers. Volunteering can also show employers that you have good work habits and can even teach you some skills to show employers what a smart cookie you are! Good luck, and keep looking -- it's only a matter of time.

Wow, thanks for those encouragements and for those advice. YEah, I will try to do those things when I will start driving already cause at this time, I cannot do anything, coz transportation is hard here when you don't have your own car. But thanks, now I am inspired more.

Hi Joice, you can find that job one of these days. You may need to get together with the other Pinoys there in Australia, maybe they can help you find leads. Good Luck to you...before you know it, months and years had passed and you will be able to adjust and love it too. You will be homesick once in a while, but know that you can always go back home to visit someday. I have been away for 10 years before I visited Philippines, I never knew how much I missed it until I got back. It may not be the best country out there, but is is our home, our roots and the people make the big difference for nowhere can you find the most caring and hospitable people than back home.

Hi favefive, thanks for that encouragement. Yep, hopefully I will really have a job soon. Yeah, you are right, Filipinos are the best people in the world, though our place is not that good, the people there makes our country special and that I miss my family back there. Hope I can go back there next year if I will have a job soon.
