I prefer tampons. A friend of mine talked me into trying them when i was in my teens and i've never gone back. I've never had any infections. You can get infections if you don't follow the directions. you aren't supposed to leave them in more than 8 hours. I'm willing to bet that is the reason most girls would get an infection because they weren't very hygenic.

I have been using tampons for over 25 years and have never had a problem (except for the time I had two in there at once, don't know how that happened!). I don't think there is a big risk as long as you change them frequently and keep yourself healthy. That is, annual check-ups from your doctor. Pads can be messy and uncomfortable but they have improved throughout the years so I don't have a problem using them if I have to.

out of curiosity, how bad were pads way back in the past?
those that i had since my first period were quite comfortable.

Ouch! Did you have to say "way back in the past"? LOL!
25 years ago there were no adhesive pads, no "wings". Pads were belted. That means that they had a long narrow "ribbon" at each end that you hooked into the clips that hung from a belt around your waist. Because they weren't really secure they didn't always move with you, if you know what I mean.
I remember my mother buying them in bulk and having them delivered to the house by the department store. Yeah, that was back when department stores delivered everything.

I prefer pads. Since I had started my cycle I have always used pads. I have never tried tampons and I never will. They just look uncomfortable. I wouldn't want something stuck up inside of me all day long. I love wearing the always with wings sanitary pads.

Since i started my first period until now i am still using pads instead of tampons. For some reason i just don't feel comfortable to use tampons.I have heard about people said it would lead to some sort of infection by using tampons. However,so far there is no clear evidence that has proven the infection causing from the use of tampons. So, i am not sure it is true or not..:)

Actually you can get toxic shock syndrome when you use tampons and leave them on for too long(more than 4 hrs). As long as you change it regularly, there should be no problem.

Pads for me. Yes you can get infections from tampons, it's called toxic shock syndrome, from a bacteria, but that's very rare.

I now prefer tampons. I couldn't use them until after I had my children - I could feel them. If you are not changing them every few hours, I suppose there is a risk for infection. I don't leave them in for more than 2 or 3 hours depending on what day I'm on. I don't leave them in overnight. If you follow the instructions on the box, you shouldn't have any problems.
