How many of you Ebayers use a last minute bidding programme?

If I'm going to be away from my computer and I have an eye on something, then I use a programme called Auction Sentry, which allows me to bid for something with seconds to go. Just wondered how many other people in mylot land uses a similar programme or do you prefer the excitement of sitting, watching and waiting to put your bid in at the last minute?

I like to jump in at the last minute with my bid, personally. Quite often though, if you use that method, you encounter somebody who's put a block bid in and don't have time to get high enough to win. So, it's swings and roundabouts, I think.
Brightest Blessings, my friend.

Hi Darkwing, yes I agree sometimes you don't get the highest bid in, but I will only ever bid up to whatever I want to pay, if people want to pay more than I'm willing to pay for an item then good on them they deserve to win the auction. Blessed Be!

I have done that and have sat at the computer and did my thing at the very end. It is fun but just not my thing so I buy mostly Buy it Now items. Does just as well anyway when I can get the item for what I want to spend on it. Being a sniper is known and not really liked by anyone.
Happy Bidding!

Yeah but it happens and if you can't beat 'em join 'em. I'm out alot of the time, so would be unable to bid at the last minute anyway so a bidding snipe works wonders for me and keeps the price pretty low. Thanks for responding!

I like to bid myself but if i know i'm not going to be in and i want something i'll use the automatic bidding program. It's a pretty nice idea but it's a little irritating when you know that you're bidding against one.

Well it's all for fun I guess, it's a shame when you lose out on things as you can still lose out with an auto bidding program too.. Thanks for responding!

I have heard about these programs but I have never used one. I hate it when I get outbid at the last minute and then I have to start all over with bidding on something else. There was some talk about them banning programs but I never heard whether or not it was going to happen.

Oh that's probably me then knocking you out at the last minute lol.. Well it's the only way sometimes. I never bid if something has bids on it already as this lulls the prospective buyer into thinking they're going to wind (and also might push up the price considerably) By using this programme then it makes sure I get in at the last second without them being able to put in another bid. Sometimes it doesn't work, but most of the time it does!

A friend of mine used to use AutoSnipe, but I much prefer the kick of bidding last minute myself. I have managed to get pretty good at sniping lately, although there is always the chance that someone will outbid me

I think there's that chance with everything. I will only go to the value that it's worth to me, the tops on what I want to spend on it, even if I love the item I am pretty clear when it comes to spending. Yesterday I had put a snipe in on a pair of shoes (surprisingly) I had seen the for sale on buy it now but I wanted them cheaper. I was going out so I set up my snipe for my max price, I came home and the bidders had gone mad, paying four or five pounds more than the buy it now prices!!

Manually or with a program, sniping is the only way to go. Showing your cards, by bidding early, will only cost you more money in the long run.

Absolutely I definately agree with you it may be sneaky and underhand but at least most of the time you get what you want!!

It is a good way to win bids, Although I go shop around when I need things and get to the actual purchase with no bidding. However if I should bid for something It should take only several minutes not a long wait.

No. I usually sit and wait with the auction and bid. Most times i get what i want usually with only a few seconds to go.

I always wondered where you could get a program like that. I don't do much bidding anymore on there, but my hubby and I do alot of selling and when our auctions are close to closing we are watching them.
We love to hit the refresh button continuously the last few minutes and watch the bid change within seconds of ending.
If I decide to buy again I now know where to get the program! Thanks!
