I am just wondering what kinds of computers people use. I know alot of people make their own from other computer parts and put them together to make one and others have brand names such as HP and Dell What kind of computer do you use and why? I have a Hp pavilion and i love it, In case it ever crashes I have a back up to recover my system, this save me alot of time and money.

my computer is a non-branded which was made by assembling all the parts of the computer by the people in the computer shop from which i bought it. i like it but the only problem in it is that it has a low 128 MB RAM.

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron. It's an awesome machine, it's definitely a good value for the money I spent on it. Meanwhile, the desktop my wife and I have at home is a personally built one. I purchased the parts myself because it is very easy where we live (Silicon Valley, CA) to get computer parts at rock bottom prices and put together a blazing machine. I also have a lot of friends who were computer engineers, so they are always able to help recommend parts to me so that my computer remains in premium condition and performance.

Wow that sounds really neat to be able to put your own computer together. I know I'd never be able too.. I don't really have any friends in that field either so i wouldn't just be able to buy the parts and have someone install them for me. I think i would have to take it in and get it done that way and pay the person alot of money.. Thanks for sharing and replying.

I have a Compac Presario Pentium 4 with a DVD burner hard drive. I also have backup. That was all I could afford. Needless to say, it wasn't the one I really wanted, but that hadn't been invented yet. The two duo cores were not out when I bought it.

My mom has one of those kind of computers, they are actually nice ones. Though she just uses hers for chat and e-mail stuff. She's not really into much besides that on the computer i know they are really good for that. but those are really nice computers from what I've seen. Thanks for the reply.

Mine is a gateway laptop. I ve been using it for the past 3 year. It never got into serious problem or parts replacement . Best of all you already paid for its operating system and u.p.s. Unlike desktops, you tend to need a backup power in case of power interruption. But if you use your PC as gaming experience, then desktop is for you. Good idea is to assemble one.

I did at one time have a laptop but one night I forgot to unplug it that night .. When I woke up the next morning it did some kind of upgrade on it self and than I wasn't able to do anything. Not that it really matter much cause I did buy it off e-bay for like 15.00 so I really didn't lose much out of it. Thanks for the reply.

I prefer building my own computers, I have 4 own built desktop pc's and 1 hp pc in my house which are all networked. I mainly go for performance and not being modest or anything, but my computer can outdo any manufactured pc especially as my pc only cost me £600 not including the 42 hdtv monitor

I use HP for my desktop, its the second one I have had. I've never had any real trouble with it. I know a lot of people make fun of HP, but it does everything I want. However, for my laptop, I got a Toshiba because that one had all the features I wanted at a good price, at the time.

Hi wisconsin26, i just have a desktop thats what we usually call here to be generic, in which you can assemble a unit and put your choice of parts. Most of the branded products aren't much an "in" thing here. Except for laptops. Like my PROCESSOR it is an Intel 4mb DuaCore, a MOTHERBOARD that is ECSP4, a HARD DISK that is 160 gig and other stuffs like that :)

I have a laptop. 1.66ghz dual core, 1gb ddr2 ram, 15.4" wide-screen, 100gb hard drive, 256mb graphic card. I have an external 500gb hard drive. I also have it hooked up to my 32" hd lcd tv so I can watch movies and tv show from of my computer. My laptop make is acer aspire 5652. :) its about a year old now, I should probably buy a new one, or an additional one :) I need a new hard drive too, cos I only have 100gb of space left :(

Mine's a DIY computer.. I actually saved some bucks from it.. The secret in the Dell/HP computers is that the motherboard are designed by them. So sometimes, it might be hard to upgrade your computer.
