How quickly I was disappointed

I just recently got back from vacation and much to my surprise discovered that I had a referral here at Mylot. I dreamed of how I could relax now as this person raked in the bucks for me....then, as I clicked on their profile reality set in. Not one single response or discussion started and they hadn't even taken the time to set up the profile page....why even bother signing up? I've quit a bunch of programs but not before i at least gave it a decent test run...anyone else have this problem with refs?

Yep, like you I thought I was well away. I recruited 2 members within a short time. Neither have done anything at all and those are all I have managed to recruit. Looks like I will have to do the hard slog myself as usual. Mind you it is much more fun on here than most hard slog.

1. Glad to see you back, you were missed.
2. Who knows what happens with referrals, if they were disappointed with the site or expected to get rich from it, better they leave now than later lol.
3. I never do referrals, I am always too worried that a site is going to fold so I don't an angry mob outside my house with pitchforks and torches ... wait, that's Frankenstein isn't it?

thanks for the welcome back...I loved the angry mob in the old Dracula movies..they would always sit around all day and then decide it was a good time to go up to his castle just as the sun was setting.

They had to sit around and drink grog and get all tanked up ... they never stopped to think that day time would have been a better time to plan a strike. No, they had to wait until - as you said - nightfall. All I know is this - the first pitchfork I see and I am heading the opposite direction.

Thats why I really don't depend on referrals for things like this, yes they are nice to see in your down line but some are just not active enough to make you anything I've been doing really good with just myself and I am really happy about that.. I guess I could be making a few cents and wait months for payout.. but we got to work hard ourself to make anything here and I know we all do!

Ugh...I hear you. I have 5 referals and not a one of them is earning me a darn thing. I guess maybesigning up was one of those things that seemed like a good idea at the time, but when it came down to it, they just weren't all that interested.
I even told them how I have recieved 3 payouts so far, for a total of about $45. Not bad for chatting and giving advice on knitting and such.
Ah well...but still, I do wish I could find some good hardworking referals :-)

I have 9 referrals, and I think they're earnt me a grand total of $0.30. 9 people. I've pretty much given up with referrals, aside from putting them on my Myspace, Facebook, deviantArt, etc.. I can't see how else to recruit people that are genuinely interested in using it! I don't understand how people get thousands of referrals. I suppose you just have to be popular! x

hey welcome back:)
yea,i don't have a single active referal myself :(
i guess they get disappointed with the programs or something..although in that case,it sounds like they didn't even try.that's infinitely more frustrating then the sign up and disappears.

Don't feel bad. I have a referral that's just like that. Mine has been around for four months and haven't done anything. I think this person should be removed, I mean why even join if your not going to do anything. It's irritating to look at that 1 person and know I'm not even making any money from it. Maybe we should all get together and ask to have our referrals that's not active to be removed. 4 months is a long time, and homestly I don't he/she is going to start any time soon either.

I have tried with some referrals in the past and they posted for a little bit. Then they just stopped. It might have not held their interest for the long run. I really was not all that offended by it. Different things for different people is how I view it.

I also experienced that, I have two referrals and the two of them didn't lasted that long.
My first one was from another country, which disappeared after signing up. The other was a friend of mine, who did participated for a while but later on disappeared too. He told me that he is working, that it is too complicated for him.
But I don't worry much, I guess people do look for better ways of earning a hefty amount of cash rather than enjoy and learn while sharing at the same time!;)
To each their own, I am thankful that atleast they did what they can to help!;)

I have so much trouble getting referrals. No one's interested. i asked my mum to join up but she said "i don't like giving my address out". I don't really talk to many people on the internet so I don't think I'll ever get any referrals! Anyone got some spare? :-P

I have had this problem too. I have two referrals but not even one of them is active. I gave up on the whole referral thing.

I have 9 referrals and sometimes I wonder about their well being. All of them except for 1 is active if you consider 3 cents a month in referral earnings a month active.
You have been on MyLot long enough to know that most do not stick with it. There are only certain individuals who are active let alone active over 1,000.
Unfortunately that is the way it is. =(

I got one but she didn't stay active. I think I got 5 cents from it. Maybe the person is a referrer and isn't actively posting but getting others to join? Maybe they have so many sites they do that they signed up but never figured the site out. I wouldn't bother getting people to sign up here. I do it for the fun and enjoyment of talking to people and if I get a few cents for it cool. There was a guy here said he spent 5 hours and made over 100 posts yesturday and got $1.43. That is less than 30 cents an hour. For fun but not a money maker.

Welcome back from vacation. I hope you had a great time. I'm glad you posted this as the responses so far have certainly made me realise I'm not alone!
I used to go on Yahoo answers, then somebody posted a link to Mylot and I got hooked here. I hope the referral worked for them as I surfed around a bit before signing up. I went back on there hoping that I could rake-in a few likeminded folk to earn on my behalf, but as with most, I don't think they posted a single discussion or reply and i certainly haven't earned a penny from them yet.

I know exactly what you mean! Two of my sons joined and one was quite active for a bit..then just disappeared. (of course he does have an infant daughter). The other son occassionally logs on (of course, he is 17 and we all know how the minds of 17 year old boys spin..). My secretary joined...did three responses and never came back. I'm done with trying to get referrals. I'll just plug along on my own.

I have two referrals, and I think they've earned me a whopping 5 cents. :) I can't decide if I want to post my referral link on my blog or LJ in the hopes of picking up more referrals... who will probably not post either... :)
(Glad you're back! :) )

I don't have any referals. I have tried to get a couple of my friends on here that I am sure would like it but so far no responses. Sorry that happened to you. What a let down! I'd rather have no referals than have one sign up and do nothing. Who knows, maybe your ref is just browsing around and getting comfortable. Maybe it'll work out. I've been here for a couple of weeks and still haven't done much with my profile page...mostly becuz I don't know what i'm doing.
good luck. hope it gets better for you.
