Bee Stings

Okay I was just outside taking some photos of my Apple Tree for another discussion. When I moved to another spot for a different angle of the tree I felt something tear at my foot in between the 3rd & 4th toe. Looking down to scratch the sudden itch a huge honey bee or something flew off. It hurt like hell causing me to limp indoors. I got the tweezers & did manage to pull out the stinger. Now the problem is that the area that was stung itches like hell. It also has the feel of like a novacaine shot. It's almost but not quite numb feeling. What can be done to ease the itching, burning and numbness feel in my toes? Gardening does have it's draw backs. HAHAHA. MAYBE THAT BEE JUST LIKED MY TOES POSSIBLY? Yes I almost took a photo to add here. But decided against it as my toes are ugly buggers. HAHAHAHA!!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I had a hornet fly down the back of my shirt once...it nailed me 3 times before I could get it out. My aunt made a paste of baking soda and water to put on the stings and that cooled them off a bit. As for itching I would suggest Benadryl cream. Best of luck to you hope it feels better soon.

OUCH!! That must be going around today as my sone and his friend were both stung by hornets. My little guy got 2 stings in the hand and his buddy got 3 in the neck and face area. They were both screaming like crazy but luckily y neighbor had some stuff that you put on the stings that cools it off and takes away the itching sensation almost immediately....por little guys, and poor you too...LOL

Try a thick past of baking soda and water then spread it on the bee sting. It takes the itch and burning out of the sting. A good preventive is wearing sneakers. lol

I am always out in my garden bare footed. The worst thing that's ever happened so far, other than this sting today, is stepping in some of Busters left over meals. Ewwwww. I use to walk in cow manure barefooted when I was a small child. Squishing it between my toes. yeah I was a typical farm boy that lived in the cities. HAHAHA! Gotta find my baking soda it seems. You got to spit on the spot, spread it with your finger and cover the whole wet area with salt. It helps. sounds a bit indecent but it eases the swelling, the itch and the pain. This old fashioned way is the cheapest I know and works about as good as these creams from a pharmacie.

If none of those remedy's work, here are a couple to try. Place a layer of onion on the spot. If that doesn't work, try ammonia, that is the main ingredient in these store bought products to relieve the pain and itching.

Hi webeishere, I came back to this discussion because I remember the bad response you had to my suggestion and I just recently saw a new remedy, pennies. I just read a blog about how someone had gotten stung and their arm swelled up so bad they had to go to the doctor. They were told that next time to put a penny on it. Well within a week they got stung again so they taped a penny to their arm and the next day, there was no swelling or anything... Just another suggestion for you..:)

Aww, I know how bad that hurts. If it was a honey bee, it was probably on the ground & crawled between your toes then when you moved them, it kind of smashed it. Honey bees don't stink unless they are "threatened". (like if you are tryin to get into there hive or accidently smash them). They are like that because once they stink something/someone, they will die. (I know all that useless info because my aunt raises honey bees & I practically lived with her when I was little). You can get some sting medicane to put on it. I have loads of it in my giant first aid kit cause you never know when you'll need it. Or put some benedryl on it to help the iteching. Do you smoke? If so, damp some tabbacco out of a ciggarate & put that on it. It will help with the swelling, itching & stinking. But it does burn a little at first.

A bee that had stung you would die, not fly off so i guess whatever it was it wasnt a bee. My advice would be go to dr and let them have a look best of luck blessed bee

Benadryl- I’m sure your toes are fine now- but I always take Benadryl for bee stings- I swell right up and get itchy too- I have a Benadryl cream I put on the Bee sting- it reduces the itching- and take a pill by mouth- it reduces the swelling- Yep gardening has it’s drawbacks- but don’t let a little bee sting stop you!

I've only been stung by a bee once in my life: it was in my big toe when I was 10 years old or so. To heal the burning, itching, or whatever else, my father poured his aftershave liquid on it --- it hurt like mad, but it seemed to do the trick. I'm guessing vodka or hydrogen peroxide work well, too.

OUCH!! I walk around barefoot outside too. I had 3 stings in one week once. Not between the toes, thats no fun. You can use baking soda, meat tenderizer, whitch hazel is good too, if you have some. Also for the itch if you have some hydrocortizone, that will help. Good luck with the ugly buggers. I see where its been 18 hrs since you posted this, it should feel better by now.

Cake some wet mud onto the sting sight to draw out the heat and poison, let it dry there, then chip it away.

I was once stung by a wasp. It caused a hell of burning pain, my father in law asked me to put some lime upon it, and I did. It was really good. He also instructed me to consume a few dreid pepper by chewing too. He told me it is to resist the poison from the sting. We have such wonderful quick remedies which have no proven base other than testimonials. I hope GRANDPA BOB that you are relieved of the pain now. Thank you.
