I was responding to a discussion a friend started, earlier, about being unable to go to sleep at night. Naturally, as I have a great love for lavender, I referred to a previous discussion on insomnia, and duly went in search of it, so that I could refer it to my friend.
Can you imagine my amazement??? I was gobsmacked, when after searching through over fifteen pages of discussions I'd started, I couldn't find either of my earlier discussions on lavender. Mylot must have deleted them... WHY???? There was nothing wrong with them, and I am, in the least, somewhat disgruntled at this action. I stick to the guidelines, and I write decent length, quality discussions as far as I'm concerned, with these two in particular, drawing a fairly hefty response. So what gives? No notification... nothing... deleted!!!
Ok, if somebody thought they were offensive or out of order in any way, please tell me... don't just hit the report button and get my work deleted. Jealousy and spite are two despicable traits, and that goes for the people who target my friends, too. Ok, so if I get banned from Mylot, that's tough. I have far better things to do with my time than waste it typing good discussions only for them to be removed!
So think on... I really don't think I want to spend too much time in here any more... things get worse from day to day. I'll pop in from time to time to see my friends, but that's as far as it goes. I don't need this... it just winds me up!!!

It seems I've been a bit rash in posting this discussion Lakota, my friend. Either that, or it was a resolved discussion which doesn't appear on my list any more, or something... Whyaskq found the discussion for me and I posted it into my friend's discussion. lol.
I guess I have to eat humble pie! :)

Well said Darkwing, as it is getting stupid again
Those type of Discussions get deleted and the rubbish ones stay, I have gone a bit quiet again at the moment as it is all happening again and it gets to the Stage where People are getting weary again what to reply to again

I don't know if I'd be right in guessing who has upset you, but I fail to see what reason they would have in hurting somebody as sweet as you.

I just searched the site and found two discussions started by you that came up for the search on lavender, how many have you started? Do you remember the titles? one of them has this link http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1076429.aspx I do not have the other one at this moment,but I know I can go back to it. I appreciate the loyalty you show to your friends, and how angry you must feel. I have seen other discussions disappear, and reappear, not really deleted, just "lost in space". I will go get the link to the other one as well, if you like.

Well, I did not find the one about lavender scones, but I believe I printed it. Recipes are against the guidelines, but I do not think they would count as they are part of the discussion. However, if someone thought they should report you, and did so, chances are the moderator just deleted without reading it. I have it on good authority that that seems to be happening.

The lavender scones one is still there Gerty. It was part of a Midsummer's Eve discussion. I made them specially for a friend and kept one back for myself to eat as my celebratory cake, with ale. Honey, lavender and mead are all very relevant to Midsummer Solstice. I think you did reply to it because I remember you saying that hubby had agreed to try them. lol.

I've actually posted three, Gerty. One was a general discussion on lavender and its versatility, the next was on insomnia and a lavender pillow, and the third, lavender scones and lavender honey butter. It was the insomnia one I was really looking for, but I could only find the scones. The one you gave me is about the different scents in the garden in summer, so wasn't really lavender orientated.
Anyway, thanks to Whyaskq, who found the insomnia one, I have been able to post it in my friend's discussion and all is well now, but I was a bit disconcerted when I couldn't find either.

I am so happy to hear that the problem has been sorted out, and you found the discussion you were looking for and it in fact did not get deleted. 2 things have been really bothering me about mylot lately ...
1) Crappy discussions with barely any thought seem to stay while the well thought out discussions seem to go "missing". Their must be a mylot bermuda triangle or something.
2) How rude people have gotten! A close, personal friend of mine (whom I have known for a long time offline and convinced to join) got bullied and abused her first day here on mylot. A ton of reports were made, and eventually after a week or two the person finally gave up, but the whole situation was BS.

I agree, my friend... there's too much animosity from some members here. Why, I can't fathom, it always used to be so pleasant in here, but for instance, I have had a couple of guys jumping my discussions to post spam, and they're not always polite about it either. I don't complain to Admin because I think everybody deserves at least a second chance.
We're all here to enjoy our writing, have meaningful discussions with and tell our experiences to our friends, so why do we get all this? Yes, it bugs me, but ignore it for long enough and it will go away... Mylot keep an eye on things, but the one thing that does make me somewhat angry is that certain moderators delete discussions willy-nilly, without verifying them and upsetting some really nice people in the process. Hence, they are deleting all the wrong discussions, for the wrong reasons. I hope there will be a change in that because despite everything, I have made some valuable friends in here, and still enjoy visiting the site, immensely.

I really hope that things change here too my friend! It's sad that mylot is turning into such a "mean" place! I love it here, but some of the mean, cruel people here are getting a bit much!

I cannot believe that these discussions were deleted! What possible reason could anyone have for reporting or deleting them - it goes from the sublime to the ridiculous. I hope you have asked mylot admin for an explanation - there was a lot of good information in these posts! Hugs xxxx

That's what I couldn't understand, Mummymo. I mean, if you ask for trouble, you expect to find it, but I don't tend to do that, but then nor did a few other people who got their discussions deleted through people hitting the complaint button.
Thank you for searching for me, but that's the one I found... Why, however, came up with the insomnia one, although goodness knows how... I couldn't see it in two rounds of searching.

I am so sorry this has happened to you too pal , I had 2 deleted as well , Mine were things the kids say , nothing untoward in any of them , this is not my style as you know , Why can people be soo petty , What I can't understand is WHY CAN'T someone read them before deleting them ,then be kind enough to let us know where we did wrong , this is happening to so many people and it is really annoying , This one will probably go next , I do remember yours as I replied too pal , xxxxxx

Grumble over, Weemam. Why found the insomnia one for me and it's duly been placed in my friend's discussion. However, I don't know why I couldn't find them, and 'tis true that it does happen... like yours, for instance. I also heard that one moderator, on receiving complaints, justified or otherwise, just deletes the discussions. Hence, I feel it would be much better for moderators to be known to us, and to be available in forums for us to ask questions of, or demand reasons. Mylot would be a much happier place for that.

I don't see why they would delete your discussion. As long as your discussion wasn't ridiculous or spam. I would definitely contact the operators of MyLot and ask them why they decided to delete it. That is outright unfair.

That's what I thought, Jackie, but Why found it for me. I don't know why I couldn't find it, I'm sure. I went through all my pages, twice. It must have been a blonde moment, and now I'm having to eat humble pie! lol.

I hope that it did get deleted, I have had a few of mine drop off of my list also a few months ago and I hate it too. but maybe the person that made the first post here found it for you. I hope that is the one you are looking for. I dont understand why someone has to do others that way with discussion, I guess they just cant grow up. Hugs and have a better day.

Yes, the one Why found was the one I was looking for Hoghoney. I can't for the life of me think why I couldn't find it myself, unless they don't show the resolved discussions in your list. If the latter's the case, I have fifteen pages or so of resolving to do. he he he.

I can't believe that, it's so disheartening for you. I can't believe anyone would find them offensive in the least. They are not that old are they? It's not as though they have become out dated, I can't think of another reason why. They are certainly not offensive and I know you put alot of thought into your discussions and responses. I for one will be sad to see less of you on here as you've been a very good friend from the very start of me being here, but I can totally understand where you're coming from and would feel exactly the same in your position. I feel disheartened sometimes as people can be rude and obnoxious and that's why I disappear sometimes, but mylot deleting your discussion for no reason is totally out of order. Hello darkwing. How are you now? I went through all the responses and saw whyaskq was able to provide the link to your erstwhile deleted discussion. I have 2 discussions deleted.
I can understand why the very first discussion was deleted as I had mentioned a dear friend's name in there. The second one was what perplexed me though. It was an old discussion and after posting that one and generating huge responses as well, I've seen a lot of posters posting the same nature of topic. I didn't report any of them. Yet, mine was deleted. I seriously have no desire to post anything for now not unless the people behind this forum will do something about it.

Sweets I can not immagine why they would be gone. They were informative, educational, and helpful. There was nothing offensive in what you wrote. I can remember them very well!
I'm sorry that this has happened to you. I have given up trying to figure out this site!
