I'm pretty irate reading this article. Please share your thoughts on it, personally, if they are going to have this attitude maybe we should pull out, let the whole place go to hell in a handbasket an dfocus on our own borders. I hear things like this from Iraq and it makes me mad I ever thought we should stay there to begin with. http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/07/14/iraq.military.ap/index.html

I had a feeling they would start compaining about us being there, I didn't think it would happen so soon. But you notice it isn't making the headlines, surely this counts as the 'important developements' so why is it being played down? Bush has said time and time again that we will leave when we are no longer welcome. The Iraqi public have wanted us gone for a long time. Now the Government is telling us we can go, why isn't Bush agreeing to anything? Just proves there is a hidden agenda.

Oh nooo don't feel like that! It's good to be objective and think about the what ifs and all sides of the arguement. But yeh we need to sort it out, we are far too dependant on oil. But if it wasn't oil what would it be... if potatoes powered the machines and ran the cars I wonder if we would be bombing... umm... (who grows the most potatos?) If only we could erradicate greed. That way we would all get what we need for the right price. And we wouldn't have to fight and kill each other for control. Hmm never gonna happen.

I am so irritated with myself for almost jumping on the war bandwagon. But it's becoming more and more obvious that we are no longer welcome there. And you're right, this isn't making headlines, until this morning when now the PM is saying they'd be fine by December. I swear I don't think the Bush admin has any more of an idea of what to do over there than I do. It's a shame we have become so dependant on Mid East oil, otherwise we could tell them to go **** themselves, come home and worry about our own.

Having a brother in Iraq- fighting for the Iraqi's freedom from the insurgents - this pis$es me off! I mean 100% mad- this is absolutly ridiculous- I say pull our soldiers out and let their armies and government stand up and fight- I'm all for it- I would rather my brother and all his brother and sister soldiers come home- to safety- to the love of their families- Shame on al-Maliki for making this statement- It is like spitting in the face of all Soldiers!

wow, you know we are all pulling for our soldiers, and how great of your brother to be one of them-they deserve to come back here and never work again. live free and have no house payments, and never ever have to worry about money. Thank god we have people like your brother! I wish this whole mess were over with. its never ending, and i cant understand anymore why this has to be this way. i feel mislead, and cheated out of money. we spend millions on sadams trial, give our soldiers to them, and get NOTHING in return,, not even safety here. god bless!

May your brother make it home, safe and sound, and SOON! Bless him for his service, and his family for the patience, love and fear with which you wait for him!

Soccermom, you know that I believe there some folks who just do not get it (either on their own natural line of perspection or through the impluses of electronic devices)! Lord, have mercy! Soccermom, this is also one of the points/arguments that several great minds tried, to no avail, just before the unnecessary 2003 invasion of Iraq, to make the invaders understand - Have you ever heard of the saying that, one should never rush into a dispute between two lovers? You see, these Middle Easterners have been around long, long before the USA or North America was ever discovered, and have been at each others throat since then! Sometimes, I also make the same comment about White and Black Americans, who cannot live with each other, and yet cannot live without each other! And no one has depicted this sort of relationship (consciously or unconsciously) better than Chuck Jones in his famous "Tom (White American) and Jerry (Black American)" cartoon series: One of my favorites is Jerry finally running to the city to get away from Tom and his gang, only to discover he, Jerry, is no longer able to live without Tom!

I never thought of Tom & Jerry that way, and I'm still thinking of it and don't really see it. I'll have to watch it on Cartoon Network later and think of it.

After having read that article, I am inclined to say that we should bring our troops home and let Iraq handle it from this point on. If the Iraqi PM thinks they are ready to handle things on their own, then we should give him the opportunity to find out...and there now seems to be no further reason for us to stay and continue to spend American lives and money to insure Iraq's stability.

Unfortunately if we pulled out now I think we'd get a lot of backlash from the rest of the world. I said long ago that we should just give teh Iraqui government a deadline and tell them if they don't get their act togteher then we are gone. But it doesn't work that way. And so many of the people in that country don't seem to understand-- or even want-- the concept of an organized government. It's such a voilatile situation, we need to end this war carefully. I really hope it ends soon.

You make a good point that the Iraqi's don't seem to understand the concept of organized government. It's like they did want Hussein gone, and now that he is they don't know what to do. There's going to be no good way out of this, and it's scary.

I say we have done enough for them we got rid of Saddam and that was our main goal. If we have any other motives they need to brought out in the open and discussed. This is the government they wanted they had their chance at freedom we fought for it, now if they dont appreciate it or fight for it themselves than its their fault not ours, lets wash our hands of it. I see things like this and the shoot out that we had with the Iraqi police who were corrupted and I think its more than time we let them handle their own problems. If we are going to make permanent bases why not just withdraw to those bases and see how the government handles dealing with their own population we cant hold their hands forever. Either this government is going to make it or it isnt. Personally I think its gona take another iron fisted leader to reunite Iraq again but I dread the idea that we might have anything to do with putting another tyrant in power.

This is madding for them to say this and then turn around and talk that the 2 powers still cant get along . But as long as our troops are over there they dont want another Viet Nam FO r we better take time to get all our military stuff out of there and not leave it behind so they are better armed. also OUr troops alot I have read emails from dont want to come home till it is all settled that we have won for the the Iraqi a way to run their Governmant like it is to be run and they cant do that while they fight amongest themseleves. And I know about 200 that are going over there soon and soon about that many come home as it seems like they are rotating forces. And yup we need them to gaurd our borders and I also think that the compounds these people have over here I think i counted 11 the other day in another post I think they should be got rid of we dont need those people here with in our borders as we dont know what they are planning!

Interesting conversation, I'm all for bringing our troops home for some much needed R&R and Re-training. There is something that we need to take care of to make the machine work better. We need more efficency and accountability. Our Military and Our Domestic Police both need some important restructuring. We need to get the corruption out of the system. I'm sure we've all seen personality flaws. The way to fix what is wrong over there is to create an example that they would want to follow. There are so many aspects that need to be worked together to create the right change I've only just begun to share.

I thought the reason we were still there was only until they were able to take care of their own business? What the hell are we doing forfeiting the lives of our military when we have accomplished the reason for staying? Does our president not read or hear what the Iraqi people are saying?? I am so sick of our president's stubborn stance on the war. What the hell happened to "We the people" now it seems be "Me the president. I can't wait for him to get out of office and that goes for the Vice President too. He is just as bad with his military convictions regarding Irag.

See this is just it white. Earlier this week I posted a discussion about how I was starting to change my mind about the situation in Iraq, and that although it is unpopular we may just need to see this through. But then I read stuff like this article and it just makes me so darn angry! We are all pretty well aware that Iraq's government is far from stable, and if we pulled out now it would be like throwing fresh meat to the wolves, and I would think the Iraqi PM could see it too. I've been flip floppy all week over this issue. But you know if they feel they are ready to get the training wheels taken off, hell with them. All the billions that we have spent over there just may be better suited for our own homeland security and research into renewable energy. No easy answer to this situation that's for sure.

Hi, soccermom! This is just the icing on the cake, did you see the article about Al Queerdya returning to its pre-9/11 strength last week? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19717961/site/newsweek/ Personally, I've been against Iraq from day one. Saddam Hussein was our best protection against those buttcakes establishing themselves in Iraq! If we leave now, we virtually guarantee that Iraqi oil reserves fall into the control of Osama and all his retarded follwers! SO, four years and thousands of lives later, it becomes apparent for all to see that abandoning the REAL war on terror, the one in Afghanistan, so we could diddle ourselves in Iraq, was a complete and total clusterf**k. Kinda makes me wish I could borrow a theme from the Terminator movies, except I'd go back in time to escort Barbara Bush (Mrs. George H.W., not the drunken frat girl) to an abortion clinic, thus preventing this perversion of American global leadership at conception. Somehow, letting history be his judge seems too kind!
