Well, It is not new but It is new to me. It is a Hyundai Elantra, 1997 I like it it is white good on gas, and gas prices is so high so this is what I wanted an economical car. I have a lot of Grand-kids, so I won't be able to pile then in the car like I did with my Van. I will half to take a few of them at a time. Now I would like to know does anyone have a that kind of car, last night while I was driving I turn off my lights and I fot vrite lights if some one can tell me how you turn on the regular lights I would appreciate it. I read the manual. but I am still confused. I was hoping someone could help me with this. the manual said it could be a fuse, how could it be a fuse if the other lights are on? Thanks just wanted to share my good news, thanks Marcie

Way to go! I hope you enjoy your "new, old" car. I can't understand your question though. Perhaps you could clarify a little better what you are asking? I had a Santa Fe, would imagine the lights are similar. Switch should be in the turn signal, twist the knob, push/pull for brights. Does that help?

Hi, Rae, The problem was I only had brite lights, You can tell when you brite lights are on because you will get a sign, for brite lights, and I notice all I would see is the sign for brite lights, I just needed one bulb on the passenger side, It was simple I when to the Car Dealer and told him I didn't want to ride around with brite lights because I will get a ticket. but just like you said the lights are loctated right where you said. I operate my light the same way you do.

I am glad you finally got your new car. I know it will take some getting used to after having the van for so long. And I see you got your problem fixed with a new bulb for the lights.

Having just gotten a 1998 Ford Escort we know what you are going though. We drove it to the repair shop before bringing it home. Of course we had the alarm shut off in the process. No need to protect a paid for older car. Anyway, we too will adjust how we do some things until my van is returned... it is in the shop now. I hope someone that knows cars can tell you what you need to know. Good luck with this one.

So glad it was just a bulb. I know the feeling of sitting on the ground. A funny sensation. My van is a Chevy Lumina APV. It fits me perfectly and is great on gas. I am waiting still to get it from the repair shop. My guy was on vacation and his guys while he was away did not do alot. Good luck with your newer car lasting you for a long time.

That is so wonderful Marcie, I am so happy for you, I can't help you with your new car, I don't own a car and haven't since 2003, at first it was very scary not owning a car, but I have enjoyed not having to worry about accidents, car insurance or repairs, life is sweet!!

Congratulations on your 'new' car. With the way things are going I'm afraid my next new car will be like all my others...old, but new to me. LOL I've never owned a Hyundai Elantra, so I'm afraid I cannot help you with your question, but hopefully someone here can help you out. Good luck and drive safe! :)

Hello marciascott,
That is a wonderful news and I am happy for you. Hope you will enjoy driving your new Elantra with your lovely grandkids. I am very sorry that I don't know the answer for sure but I think, you already found the answer for your question by now. I am a driver who knows nothing about cars. I only drive blindly without knowing any technical aspects of the car. Sometimes, whenever I am having problem with my car, I just make an emergency call to my husband or brother (whoever available and comes to the rescue faster!) to help me and the best part is that, I never learned my lesson! Pretty bad huh?

Wow... I am so jealous of you right now! Lol. I wanted to purchase Hyundai Elantra, 2002, Automatic 1.8. But my budget is not enough so I have to make do with a Kia Spectra 1999, 1.5 Automatic. Hmmm... I suggest you ask a mechanic friend, I am sure you know somebody from your relative or friends that is working in the workshop. Or maybe you can ask your husband to ask from his friends. I am sorry I can't help you with this problem directly. However, i am happy for you that you had this car. To me, Hyundai Elantra is not just an ordinary car. It is a luxury car to me. Congratulations on having a new car. Have a nice day driving!
