Nope, not even close to the best movie ever. I did quite enjoy Jack Nicholson's performance though. It was his work in this and the Shining that made him stand out for the role of the Joker in the Batman movie.
And old? Yeesh most of my favorite movies are over 50 years old now, this one is still relatively new.;)

I do love Jack Nicholson in about every movie he's ever done. He's just awesome. He's got that amazing sinister look about him. But he's also delivers that dry sense of humor amazingly.
Thanks for your response.
I was probably exagerating about "best movie ever".
I honestly couldn't choose a favorite movie if I had to. I like all types of movies.

Same here, ti would kill me just to narrow it down to best comedy, best action, best drama, etc. 25 years in the video business and 3 years in the movie theater business, I saw a heck of a lot of movies. I can, however, name the worst movie I ever saw. Pink Flamingoes. Saw it in the 1970s and even stoned, it was a horrible piece of garbage.

Hi, there oldiebut....hey maybe we have more in common than imagined...you mentioned that most of your favorite movies are over 50 years old now?....Are you by any chance a lover of any of the 1930s, 40s movies...anything with Bette Davies, Katherine Hepburn, Jimmy Stewart, Claudette Cobert?? If you answer yes...I'll be shocked...LOL

Oh, yes I saw that years ago...I'm a great Cher, Susan Sarandon, and Michelle Pieffer fan to begin with...loved the way it ended...those gals really showed who was boss with Nicholson...LOL

We used to have that movie and would watch it from time to time. We enjoy Cher in movies. Jack Nicholson is just so good at being bad in the movies. Pretty good story line to go with the topic. Practical Magic was a pretty good witch movie too.

Practical Magic is one of my favorite movies, if not my favorite. I have a couple other "chick flicks" that are among my favorites. Thelma and Louise and Boys on the Side. I loved those movies.

Unfortunately, I have not seen Gone with the Wind.
I should make a point of seeing it some time.
There are just some classics that I feel I should have seen by now. That would be one of them.
Casablanca is another. Thanks for your response.

Yes I loved that movie! But besides the wonderful characters played by some real great actors, the story line was the best by far. A manipulating demon’s plan backfires on him and in the end all the trouble he caused didn’t pay off at all. The real winners where the three very women he sought to victimize to begin with. It makes me want to cheer each and every time I see it.

You should rent it if you can. It is a fun movie.
It's funny and it gets a little scary at times.
It's a nice contrast. The actors are all great.

That is an excellent movie. I think we have it on VHS somewhere. I thought the whole cast did a terrific job on this film. Especially Jack Nicholson, I mean who better to play the devil right?!

Witches of Eastwick is definitely one of the best movies ever! I have watched it about a dozen times and still enjoy it very much each time. It comes on television about twice per year where I live. I'll likely see it again several times.
I think that the cast is excellent, funny, very dramatic, and they are really funny both separate in their own persona(s) and as a group together. I like the fact that the movie appeals to most age groups so that I don't have to worry about who I'm around when I watch it. I don't have to worry if it comes on TV and I want to watch it again - I'm sure my friends won't say "No way - I just HATE that movie," or anything like that. I don't think I've met anyone who hasn't found the movie very funny and enjoyable.
I'm a little surprised that it's still just as popular with my friends because it's really not considered a 'new' movie anymore.
Thanks for posting the topic and reminding me...I think I have the movie on VHS around here somewhere...
:)

Yeah, this was a good movie, with cher and Jack Nicolson, I believe. It was recently named one of the best pictures of all time.
