I am sitting here in the quiet, the television is off, there is no music, it is totally quiet, you can hear a pin drop or the sounds of me tapping away on the keyboard.
It is bliss, the cats are either asleep or out
The frogs are huddled up together without a croak or splash
The window is open and there's an occasional car driving past or a light plane (we live near a small airfield)
It is absolutely HEAVEN....
But there is a sting in the tail, my housemate is threatening to go long term SICK from work because they have treated him badly!
So I am enjoying the PEACE, I've even given the gym a rest today so I can appreciate the quiet, the peace, the sanity and the pleasure of being ALONE
Do you love complete SILENCE, PEACE and NOT a SINGLE NOISE in the house?

The strange thing is pal , I am doing the same thing , Ross and hubby are upstairs , all is quiet Ross has probaly fallen asleep and hubby is reading , I even have the sound off on the TV, I wish we could bottle that feeling pal , It would be nice to open the bottle in times of stress and let a little of this quiet take over , enjoy your peace and quiet pal , and when you next get stressed shut your eyes and remember yourself back here xxxxx

I too love the peace and quiet, its nice at the moment as its so hot, everyones indoors trying to keep cool. Unfortunately that will change later this evening as all the kids come out to play as its cooler, so I'm off to the garden to enjoy the silence whilst it lasts!!

I love the SILENCE ... I started rasing children right out of high school so I never experienced the being alone or enjoying the silence, so when my children were growing up I used to get up very early (usually around 5:00 am) to listen to the silence and peace before they would get up, now that they are grown and I have a grandchild that I babysit for and 2 stepdaughters (ages 7 & 8 years old) that we have joint custody of I value my peace and my silence and rarely experience it, especially with everyone out of school. This week has been a nice blessing to me, my daughters have gone to stay at their Mother's and I am allowed the peace and quiet in the mornings before my daughter gets here with her daughter. Although I am looking forward to Friday since I will have no children at all to watch and the whole house will be mine to enjoy all the peace and quiet I can. Can't wait. It is the simple pleasures that bring me the most joy.
Be well, my friend!

Yes, I really enjoy it, because it happens so rarely. I don't get a lot of opportunity just to sit and enjoy the silence. I've been working soooo much overtime lately, I haven't been home at all. SO, I would really appreciate a nice quiet day.

I agree. I'm just working tons of overtime this month for my vacation next month, then hopefully, it will slow down. I've done 6 twelve hour shifts in a row, with 5 to go.

Yes honey I do! Having said that the kids have been gone since Sunday and it is grating on my nerves a bit now! I phoned my sister today to see how the kids were and although she had to go to a panel with 2 of her foster kids I spoke to her best friend ( who is now a huge part of our family) and it seems like they are all having an absolutely wonderful time they have done so much and had so much fun - I actually wish I was with them! I know what the threat of your housemate being at home 24/7 does to you and I do hope it is an empty threat, as I hate to think of you being even more stressed! Enjoy the peace and quiet and try not to worry sweetheart! Hugs xxxx

Ah yes, peace and silence are very hard to come by these days. The whole world is rush, rush, rush.
It's really important to find time to sit and think and reflect.
...I do hope your friend finds a better, more rewarding, job than the one he currently has. It's not a good mental state to be long-term sick if you're not. The longer that you take off the more difficult it is likely to become to get back into work. Even if he takes volutary work to keep himself busy is better than doing nothing.
Good luck,
p.

I love the peace and quiet, maybe thats why I stay up so late.
The kids have gone to bed and even though I live right next to the city of London, you can hear a pin drop here too.
All the sane people have gone to bed and only the night owls are still awake. Actualy though, looking out my window I seem to be the only one still up!!
My days are filled with so much noise i always look forward to it getting dark when all around is silent!!

Hi my friend - and yes I do - very much! I am not one for extraneous noise - I never have the TV or radio on as "background" - they are either on for one specific programme I want to watch or listen to, or they are well and truly turned off. We live in quite a quiet area, so there is very little noise around - especially during the day when everyone is at work, - so if I am ever at home sick or on holiday, I truly enjoy the sound of silence!

Hello Wolfie, I'm glad you are enjoying peace and tranquility today hun. Some days there is nothing I like better than to be quiet and relaxed, no noise, no disturbances, just peace and quiet. Just being able to sit and read a book in peace is wonderful and so precious these days when all around us is constant noise.

My house is hardly ever silent. But I do enjoy it when it is. And that is usually late at night when everyone has gone to bed. It doesn't always last long because the cats will knock something off the shelf and the dogs will bark at it. Then my silence is gone for a little while.

Ohh, i have no idea how anyone can stand the silence! SIlence makes me very uptight and nervous. i can't stand it at all. i need some noise inthe background, whether it is the television or music. To me, silence is the opposite of peaceful. It is nerve-wracking and causes me great levels of anxiety. i have no idea why i am this way.
However, i DO like to have my alone time. i need to be alone sometimes. i can't stand always having someone around. i need that "me" time. i used to love the drive to and from school because nobody else was there and i could turn on my music really loud and sing as loudly as i wanted. Sure, i woudl have some time alone at home, but then everyone would come home just a few hours later. That was when i came home right after classes. Often time, though, i would stay out with friends for awhile or would have tickets to go to a contcert and would go and would not enf up back at hom euntil 2 or 3 in the morning. Those nights were nice becuase everyone would be in bed already and the house would be all dark. i would walk in, go tell mom my i was home so she could go to sleep, then take a quick shower and go to bed.

Yes wolfie, I absolutely love to be alone AT ALL TIMES. I have two small creatures who were forever yelling like a Tarzan here and my poor ears have just enough noise to last me a lifetime.
Once the creatures hit the bed, I feel like the weight of the world have been lifted out off me. I will used the time to do mylotting, exchange bantering on the other site as well as checking on my blog.

Hi wolfie, I have missed you while I have been away from the board.
Yes I do enjoy the peace, but these days it is just to quiet with my husband deployed and no Hi Reesie I am home, I love you each day.
But the other day we had a huge storm that knocked the power out. I sat by the open window reading by the light from outside and thought how wonderful this quiet was because it was a pure quiet, not interrupted by the hum of anything!

Yes Wolfie, I do love the quiet. I love to go to the edge of the lawn in my hammock and sway in the breeze. It is so nice. I hear a whinny from the horses or a bird. Sometimes one of the cats will climb aboard for a nap and at least one of the dogs will feel the need to lay close to keep gaurd! Yes I do love my quiet times. Enjoy my friend while you can!

Silence is indeed comforting and i like it as well. But not necessarily all the time. At times i crave for silence, and shut myself up in my room. A few moments in complete solitude and silence helps me refresh my mind, and start/resume my work with new vigour and zeal.
