Have you ever been given a surprise party? Was it a surprise?

On my last birthday my family gave me a surprise party, which was a surprise because they've never even given me a regular birthday party! I am usually the party planner so I was complaining (good-naturedly) about how no one even made me a birthday cake! So my oldest daughter planned a surprise party for me, but let me know in advance to expect something. (She never could keep a secret!) So when the day arrived I allowed my best friend to "distract" me and acted totally surprised when I got home. It was a lot of fun and I felt good that my family would go to so much trouble for me. So what are your "surprise" party experiences?

It's actually been just over 3 yrs. when one was thrown for me. Some friends of mine from Church threw me one when I turned 40, and had a lot of Food, etc. It was a nice time to remember for sure.

I've given many surprise parties for friends and family over the years, but I've never had one sprung on me. Believe me, if anyone ever did that for me, it would definitely be a surprise as I'd not be expecting it! How nice of your daughter to do that for you! Hope it was a great time!

Many years ago I was given a surprise graduation party. I had not really had many birthday parties. i was an only child. The summer I graduated high school my mother and I went to New Jesrsey to visit my grandfather and some aunts, uncles and cousins. That is when I got the party. Of course I was embarressed and really did not want the attention. But it was nice.

The one and only surprise birthday party I remember was my sweet 16 birthday. I had absolutly no clue. It is funny because I was having a bad morning and wasn't in a good mood. My parents were trying to get me out of the house. So I can't remember how they finally got me out of the house that was a long time ago. But I do remember that I ended up going with my next door neighbor to practice driving. When I returned home and walked in the door there was a bunch of my friends at the house. They yelled surprise as I walked in. It was the best surprise I had ever been given. My parents even taped the party. So I can look back on it.
