Do You Have a Secret Place?

Do you have a secret place? A place you go just to be alone, or sad, or be happy. It seems I have several "secret" places that I go, especially at other people's places. So I guess, for me it's to be alone. But not always. Sometimes, like at my sister's place out in the country, I just like have time outside alone to reflect on things, enjoy the sounds, the wind, the sun, the shade. At my parents' place, I have a special place I go outside just to get away from all the hubub of so many people inside. At my place, it's usually outside in the backyard. I guess there's a theme for me. My special secret places seem to be outside.

I use to have a secret place under my bed...in our home there was a very old traditional bed whose legs use to be around 2 feet high from the ground, if we arrange a bedsheet on the bed...it covers till the ground, then I used it as my secret place. You know, sometimes I read, play and eat under it...he he he.

That sounds like every child's dream. You're luck to have had that kind of be so high off the ground. It sounds like so much fun.

I do have a secret place. Being a secret place, it will remain a secret. I will not disclose. It is no more fun if people manage to find me when I decide to go into a retreat at my own secret place.

I've had several secret places over the years. Where I was growing up, there was a waterfall in the woods, a cave just outside of town, a tall tree I would sit in the top of... those places are all very far from where I live now. Where I live now, there is a small beach that I really love, but it has become a little too busy to be a "secret place" anymore. So I suppose at the moment I don't have a physical secret place. I do, however, have a spiritual secret place, an entire forest, and a clearing with a temple, to which I can retreat via meditation anytime I need.

Just from the way to write and describe your secret places, I can tell those places are within you. Thank you so much for sharing!

i have a secret place, but it realy only exists in my mind. i call it my corner...it is where i go when i am upset or need to be alone. i imagine my corner as a nice, secluded, dark, cool, comfortable place. Nobody is allowed in my corner unless i invite them, and the only person i ever invite in my corner with me is my best friend, Jason. That only happens on very rare occasions. He is also one of the only people who know how to get me out of my corner.

My secret place is Yangshuo Park, it is not very beautiful, but very quiet, and the air is very fresh .Before I liked to go there alone when I was free, but later I just went there when I was sad.Taking a deep breath, then try to find why I was so sad, most of time, I could get any reason, but after a alone walk, I became much better. Every morning many elderly doing excersies, like runing, dancing, taiji. They look so calm, so most of time, I would think that nothing can not deal with, why should I wast so much time to be sad,so that was a really good place I liked to go.

Hello, Becky. I remember a time in my life when I would go to places alone and just watch people, too, and it would make me feel better when I was sad.

Back in elementary in my old house, my room had a collapsible wall. It was big enough for me to fit in there and you could climb up to the roof. Up to now, nobody knows about that, not even my parents.

Wow! That's really something, to have passage like that within the walls to the roof and that your parents never knew. I'm guessing there may be a lot of other things they don't know about.

I used to have a secret place for myself, but very unusual. Years ago in my downtown city I used to sneak inside the ruins of abandoned buildings without anyone seeing me, and that was where I could have the time to myself. One had a parked, unused RV, along with stuff from the 1950s. Today, one of those buildings are locked up somehow, and so I gotta find another abandoned, dilapidated building ruin in order to get away from family issues. I gotta tell you, sometimes abandoned buildings, if you aren't caught, can clear your head when in a downtown city.

Hi,granger1900! I think I have one but not a real one,a secret place inside my heart. When I felt distressed, depressed,or disappointed,I will spend hours on thinking. To remember something which can give me strength and inspiration in my memory. And then I will be ok.Thinking and remembering can cure all my problems.

Hi,I feel everybody needs a secret place & there are times in LIFe when one would love to be alone. The moments of Sorrow or Happiness which i Love to spend alone would be just closing my eyes & talking silently to GOD which I often do in my room or in an airy place[beach or park etc] but if not, wherever I am, I just close my eyes for a few minutes. This gives me a sort of inner satisfaction. Thanks, www.creatingcolourfulfuture.com
