have you ever 'wasted' money on something?

have you ever 'wasted' money on something? like subscribing books/magazine that never useful to you? or invested in a scam (which you didn't know then) in your area organized by some group of tricksters? or took a one-day course/short course which later you found out you could've learned for free from a friend? or bought something to eat - forgot about it for a while until they expired? silly but true - some happened to me and my friends!

Yes it happened to me in my early days when I started to join money making sites, whenever I earned some amount of money I invested in hyips and other sites to get more from it, but within few days these sites closed, I was scammed many times.

yeah, hyips are very common nowadays among net surfers. those who had the guts to invest really took the risk and later they regretted. but i think not all of them are scam at all. You'll be surprised they are a few - very few to be genuine ones. you'll have to be lucky to find them.. But as we acknowledge it, once bitten and twice shy, never take that risk again.

yup. a lot! and it makes me feel sad just remembering how st*pid i was. i had invested some money online thinking that i will earn more about it. and some are just scam sites making me lose money in the end. well, not much though. but it's still money. so, i just learned from it. i love buying clothes and shoes thinking that i really love them. i end up just wearing them once and realizing that i don't really like them. they just end up in my collection and i just regret buying them. there are also some friends of mine whom i lent money to. thinking that they are friends and trusting them, i let them borrow money from me. and yes yes yes... they never paid me back. and such experience with friends toughened me. now, i don't easily lend money to anyone anymore unless it's really necessary. i think there are lots of times i had wasted money on. but i wanna forget them already... anne

LOL! I think I have experiences in every situation that you have mentioned. Although none were really that substantial but still it's money:P I guess we all go through with things like this. We just vary in the degree or the sum involved. Here in the Philippines, there were a lot of networking 'scams' that proliferated a few years ago, and I have joined one or two of them. It's a good thing that I could not afford those 'high-ticket' scams back then like the multitel, otherwise I would've been robbed with a lot of money. Also, I have bought magazines or books that were totally unreadable. I have enrolled in a short course on care-giving but was not really inclined on using it to be able to go abroad. I just hope I learned from all of these...

yeah, how true! sometimes we are blessed of being 'poor'. I mean, when we can't afford to join things that people are swarming into, we are actually blessed. Later we discovered we're saved by the day. Magazines, happens to everyone. Short-term course, too. There are many more money-wasting elements out there that we really have to watch out coming our way. Just open our eyes & be careful. Good luck mari_skye.

Sure! I'm one who always regret that I've wasted my precious money on one thing or another. Recently, I've wasted 1 buck on a dollar randomizer website and I'm still feeling irritated about it. While, a cheap lesson learnt. Luckily its only a dollar.

I have lost my 15$ on Betlik forums. It was a very good site, until the admn sold it.The admin was willing to pay only the new members. And the old admin didn't bother to pay the old members. The sites debts were over 1500$.I think I lost only a small amount if compared to the total debt.

But you're still strong, right? Let's never repeat the same mistake again. The lesson we've gained is priceless and we should share it with people around us. I think we should be reserved sometimes.

Definitely. I've posted a topic a few minutes earlier about 1 Dollar Randomizer. I can't believe I wasted $1.50 on something that could be a scam, and to make things worse, it caused my Paypal account to be limited, so if I cashed out my MyLot money i've earned, I can't recieve payment of it! I even have a pic of what it said. Also, I wasted $0.01 cent on something that should've been free but didn't recieve at all! I've been ripped off. No wonder people are so skeptical because of these no-good con artists and scammers.

hi singlepixel! to be honest, oh yes! i have wasted money on something that cost me so mcuh. i have invested all my savings in a time sharing scheme in a popular resort club. when they offered it to me, i was asked to fill up a form that you will choose from if you want to be an investor only or a club member. i have marked the box that says investor only and they got the form and when i paid the 50% deposit i was given receipts and the contract. after 24 months i have paid the balance and learned that i was a club member instead of being an investor only and was being asked to pay all the accumulated monthly dues. well, to make it short my investment was gone because i could not pay the accumulated monthly dues, therefore my being an investor/member was forfeited. i wanted to sue them but they are wealthy and i know i don't have anymore money to pay for legal fees. i felt so depressed because i worked very hard for that money, i worked more than 12 hours a day just to pay for that investment and now it was gone and i was left with nothing. i have done all i could to get back my investment even asking some help from influential people but i just got ignored and been referred to different people like a yoyo...and i learned that i just have to give up anyway, i am trying to stand up again and believe that one day, i will be back in my feet again.

I'm very sorry to hear that Faith! You should've consulted your best friend for opinion. It's really make me sick when big companies squeeze genuine investors...really sick!!! (In this case, where I can't afford to fight- I will offer them prayers that may God forgive their wrongdoings)

i think it is in humans nature to waste money... i am subscribed to womans magazine (the only thing i do is to check out the pictures)... the same with food i buy something special for example last time i bought special black pasta (it looked nice and in that moment i was 100% sure i will cook them) well yesterday i threw them away

I cannot believe how much money and time I've 'wasted' on various things. I suppose though that I did learn from the experience, so it was not a total lost, but then again I tend to aim to find a positive aspect about any situation. Such examples would be spending time on a scam of network marketing that claimed not to be a pyramid or gimmick, but ultimately fell short on that promise. While I did not pay anything, I spent many months working with an individual who claimed the program was the best out there, but really was not composed or organized on what she was doing. I also spend lots of money on get rich schemes, money making programs that don't tell the whole truth when promoting, and other activities to make some extra money.

Recently I bought a coffee maker from ebay but it did not work, they had sent me a defective piece, as the amount was very small I didn't bother to complain but I learned my lesson - never buy anything without testing it personally.

yes the most recent one was paying for rush job to have my passport made. i just realized that i do not need my passport right away so i made a mistake paying for more, than to pay for a regular job for the passport which was cheaper. i wanted ot have a violin and i made a mistake of buying it right away without even thinking if i will be able to learn it. in my case i do not have the will power to learn the violin because it is painful. what a waste of money!
23 Jul 07
another case of red tape vs wrong interest. I despise govt. agencies with unnecessary procedures. A waste of time and money. by the way, you still can sell that violin..
