Do any of you watch Antiques Roadshow? It's one of my favorite shows.
The best is when someone thinks they have something worth a lot of money and it ends up being worth nothing. Haha suckers.
I also like when they don't have any idea how much it's worth and it ends up being worth thousands.
I just saw a guy who had a painting worth $80,000-120,000... lucky.

I have watched it, I love it when some lil old person brings something worth thousands, they all have this one quiet shocked face they make.I'd bring one of my mom's mirrors, I've seen duplicates in a couple different museums.*practices surprised face*LOL.

I like to watch it too. I hate it though when someone thinks they have something worth a lot of money and it turns out they have been conned. I love it when someone is surprised that a piece is worth thousands of dollars. I see lots of people who pick up something at a yard sale for next to nothing and its a treasure.

I enjoy that show, too. I think you canlearn a lot form that show. And how come I can't find something for $5 and it be a treasure worth thousands. I'm always in the wrong place.

I used to watch Antiques Roadshow all the time. Since we moved, though, I haven't even figured out which channel is PBS! :) I really like it when people bring in old books or handwritten documents from the 19th century, because my old job dealt with a lot of that sort of stuff. It's interesting to see on TV! :)

I feel for the people that come with hopes that they have something of value. Then they are told that it is worth nothing. Would be hard I would think.
I am surprised at what certain things go for. It seems to be true that beauty is in the eye of the beholder when it comes to old things. Certain things I would not give them a nickel for and they say it is worth thousands or hundreds of dollars. Go figure.

I watch this show a lot and love it as well. My wife and I go to auctions a lot buying odd things. We've made some decent cash from selling things we accquired at auctions. The show was here last year filming & I tried to get on to have an item appraised by them but there were so many people in line. Anyhow I havent had it appraised but once and will sooner or later get a second opnion someday before I die. HAHAHA. Ohhhh it's an old stck certificate from the earl 1900's from a now defunct pospular Railroad company. Some familiar autographs on it at the time of selling the stock certificate. So far Its only worth money to a railroad hobbiest or a stock hobbiest. I know I can at least get a huge sum for it. It was used as lining in a box of toys I bought at an auction for $4 HAHA.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I like watching it too. I especially enjoy it when somebody has something that they did not value that much and it turns out to be very valuable. I guess I always thing if it can happen for them, it can happen to me. (Fat chance! )I always feel bad for those who bring a piece of junk expecting it to be valuable . But I have to admit it's kind of funny to watch them trying to keep a straight face when all they want to do is scream. LOL

i watch this show also- I too love it when the person has no idea how
much it is worth and it ends up being very valuable- I always think
would I keep it or sell it- I guess it would depend on what it was and
did it belong in the family-

I am always the one saying, "Oh, it belonged to his great great great great great great grandmother and has been passed down from generation to generation? It's worth how much?! Sell that sh.it, dude!"

I also enjoy watching this show. I think that if I would find that I had a picture or documents that are worth a lot of money I would have to donate them or loan then to a museume. Some of the antiques that people bring in need special care to make sure they stay in good shape. If you loan the antiques to a munseume I am sure they know how to protect these items and you still retain ownership.
You don't have to do this with a table or chair but when it is a painting or letters you want those memories to be preserved in the best way. Some times an average person just doesn't know how to preserve these things.
I have a lot of stuff that has been pasted down my family but it is probably just junk. I don't think I would ever have the nerve to go and see if any of my stuff was worth anything. I am very happy though when people find out that they have treasures.

I would just sell it and let someone else take care of it haha. I am greedy like that! Maybe something that you have is actually worth some money... you never know...

I love the ARS as well. It's amazing how some pieces of junk can be worth so much money! I also love how excited the appraisers get when they see something really special. My favorite appraisers are the Keno Brothers. Their enthusiam just gets me so excited about antiques. They always have such an interesting history lesson about the furniture broght into them as well.

Oh yes, I enjoy the Antique Roadshow too. You are right, it can be quite amusing watching some of the faces of the people who bring stuff there. I suspect what they say, is not necessarily what they are going to do.. LOL.. Can't wait to get their hands on all the lovely money, that Great Aunt Flo's Ming vase is going to fetch... I remember there was a man and his wife who did this - they were going to increase their insurance and put it away in mothballs.. The truth was in the newspaper the following week - they couldn't get out of the Roadshow quick enough to sell it... LOL

I do not like the antiques roadshow because of the music. That darned music gets stuck in my heard. GGGGRRRRR. My mom use to watch it all the time and she was partically deaf so she had the TV up so loud. We could hardly hear our TV in the the other room.

OMG! We love Antiques Road Show and never miss it. I just love seeing all the cool and weird old stuff. The prices are a bit unrealistic sometimes, but it's still exciting to see something they rescued from a dumpster turn out to be worth thousands of dollars!

I love that show too. It's always amazing what ppl find. I also learned from that show that if you have a very old piece of furniture that the last thing you want to do is have it refinished...it decreases the value drastically when you do that.
My favorite was a woman that bought a little table at a yard sale for $20 and when she took it to the Antiques Roadshow they told her it was worth several hundred thousand dollars. They auctioned it off later and I believe she got just under a million for it...talk about making out like a bandit LOL
!!HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

We have antique roadshows here in Kerala, India during our festival of Onam during August-September. Though I use to visit these shows I only buy old and ancient coins since I have some intereest in numismatics. Popular items brought by people for these shows are ancient lanterns, lamps used in carts, ancient moulded images of Hindu daities, old drawings and even some carved furniture. Though I am not a great buyer of these things, I visit the shows and admire the antiques. Most of them are too costly for me to afford.

I like the show too. My mom and I watch it a lot. Then we always try to think of something that we could go and sell. Alas, we don't have any junk worth that much... well at least that we know of!!! I like the Will and Grace episode about an antiques roadshow type of thing... where Grace and Jack take that old teapot and it is worth thousands of dollars. Hilarity most definitely ensues. :)

I love, love, love the Roadshow. I love to see the odd little things people have. Plus, I am always looking out to see if I have any of the items. I also know what to look for at tag sales.
