Why is catfood in the bag so much better than catfood in the bowl?

Why is it my cats insist on chewing through the catfood bag of food when they have a food bowl full of the very same cat food? I guess I will have to find some place else to store it since my kitten is currently doing her best to chew through the bag.

I don't know about this myself. My cat is the same way. I'll bring home a new bag of catfood and if I leave it out too long, even if she has food in her dish, she insists on rubbing herself all over the bag and then trying to get into it. I can't figure out why. I have to place it in a hamper, which is where I keep all of her food stuffs to prevent that from happening.

Maybe it's a challenge or something. Who knows, cats are cats and cats are weird. :)

LOL! Well I guess it's because cats are contrary beasts!! The grass is always greener on the other side for them, and they always want something that they can't have, or is more difficult to have! All mine prefer their food in the bag or the tin than in the plate too! LOL!

My cat's too lazy to chew through the bag.
Maybe she doesn't like the taste of plastic.
Anyway, if the bag were to be chewed through I'm sure she'd blame it on a mouse.

My cats love to do this too!, even if there are biscuits in their bowls they'll go down to where I store the extra food bags and rub themselves up against the bags, or try to open the bags with their claws and teeth!

Yours do that too, huh? We wound up putting the food bag into a tin container. My cats seem to know when I bring home a new bag of food and can't wait to pounce on it. Worse than mice!

Probably the same reason my cat chewed holes in a gallon bottle of apple cider vinegar. You would think the smell would have kept her away. But, no. I had to put duct tape on it to keep it from running out all over the kitchen. I have no idea why she would do that. The only thing I can think of is to have something to chew on and it was handy.

my guess is for the same reasons the food in the other cat's bowl is somehow better than their own-
it's stolen.my cats seem to be on the perpertual hunt for food other than what they were personally given.
i ended up buying one of those kibble keepers at walmart to put the dry food in to keep them from tearing holes in the bag and making a mess on the floor.
