I have a pitbull. Our family loves to eat chicken. I was wondering if i could feed my pitbull the chicken bones that is left behind. I tried and my dog actually ate it. Will it have any bad effect on my pitbull or not?

yes the bad effect can be him choking. so no you shouldnt be feeding your pitbull bones of any kind. my brother told that to my cousin that no dog should be fed with bones. luckily my grandmas dog made it okay because they feed him bones.

COOKED chicken bones are a NO NO. They can splinter and cause injuries to internal organs (such as the intestine). Raw bones are OK, but I'd still be careful.

I've heard that your not really supposed to feed chicken bones to any breed of dog, they're too easy to choke on. Also, since we're on the topic, I've heard that it's bad to feed your dog raw meat, it makes them more aggressive.

The raw meat making dogs more aggressive is just a myth started by people who feared dogs such as Pit Bulls. Raw meat can actually be good for dogs, the problem is that it can be contaminated so you have to be careful. If raw meat made dogs more aggressive, then it would make humans more aggressive too. Now, I eat beef tetaki (which is in essence raw beef that's been seared on each side) and I'm NOT aggressive. There are many trainers/breeders that feed raw beef or chicken as part of a healthy diet to their dogs. You should research it.

i had a pit bull for almost 5 yrs,and we sometimes breed..its ok maybe for a dog(im referring to big breed dogs) to ate chicken bones or any kind of bones occasionally, because thats what we do to them.especially when they dont like to eat dog food even a milk, all we do is feed them with a bone(bone seems like there appetizer),then the following day there goin to eat there dog food, then thats it.

We have 2 pitbulls in the house, with my own experience it's ok to feed the pitull or any kind of a dog with chicken bones but it depends if it's still a baby of course you cannot feed them with bones but if it's already adult then you may give them chicken bones except the parts that is sharp because it might stuck on their throat...

it probably isnt a good idea to feed your dog cooked chicken bones. they will love the taste and the crunch of course..but the bones have a tendency to split or splinter and that can cause internal damage to their stomach, intestines.

It's not safe to feed a dog cooked chicken bones. You may be able to get away with it with big dogs. My dobie occasionally grabbed one off the top of the trash when she was feeling fresh, but I wouldn't intentionally take a risk like that. Cooked chicken bones splinter, all it takes is for one piece too big to make it to the stomach but to small for the dog to choke back up & the dog is going to bleed internally.

You CAN NOT feed cooked chicken or pork bones to dogs. The bones splinter and can cause your dog to choke, also it can cause internal damage to the stomach and digestive system.
