Do you go to school to acquire knowledge or to get a certificate?

I believe the reason why we attend school is to acquire knowledge. This is basically the reason for it,but a lot of people believe more in just getting the certificate caring less about how they get it.

i go to school for both reasons...acquire knowledge and get a certificate. the latter is also important it cant be denied.we all need it just as we need the knowledge we get from going to school.the mother of my friend would always say get a certificate no matter how you do it....it is the one that counts......any reaction to this?

experience is out best teacher. and we can meet experience everywhere. so for me, i go to school for certificate and friends. friends because they are my companions who will accompany me on every experience that i might encounter and certificate because, if a person wants to work on companies or to work somewhere that pays big time, those companies will look for certificates.

I acknowledge a certificate is really important nowadays. If we want to get a better job, we have to show our certificate, if we want to go to higher study we have to show our certificate, if we … so I believe most of us go to school are certificates chasing more than knowledge acquiring lol
In this way people will feel boring and dull to go to school. To make our school life more interesting and pleasant we must choose whatever subjects that we favor and eager to learn more about them. By doing this, other than getting a certificate we do acquiring knowledge in school as well.

I believe one of the reason why we go to school is to gain knowledge. For me number one reason why i go to school is to gain knowledge, increase self-esteem and gain friends. Getting the certificates or diploma is also one of the factor, because we know that in the future once diploma is an important thing in able for us to get hired. Going to school while learning aims to teach us how to socialite with different people.

I'm hoping that attending school would give the student both - an education and a certificate. Some learning should happened while in school, and a person deserves a certificate for going through the process.
However, I'm of the strong belief that education is not limited within the four walls of a classroom. In fact, if you depend solely on that as your source of knowledge, you will be shortchanged. As a person, it is our responsibility to educate ourselves, whether through formal education, life experiences or our own active pursuit of wisdom.
Now, whether a person wants only a certificate from taking a course, I'm sure he has his reasons. But by attending and fullfilling the requirements, I'm sure he will learn something if not completely the whole subject/course. Then the whole exercise is not futile after all.

I know a lot of students that seem to just be in school to get a certificate. They take the easiest classes they can to get there, even if they are capable of testing out of it and taking a more advanced class. For me, I'd rather take classes that I am interested in or could learn a lot from instead of avoiding them because they will be more difficult.
