Why do I keep doing this to myself?

As you can probably tell from my new avatar, I am nursing a rather nasty little hangover after a furious night of drinking. This is what happens when the wife and kids go out of town and I am left unattended. My office looks like the dumpster where the town alcoholic has set up home...empty Guinness cans and a 2/3 empty bottle of rye...the smell in here when I walked in this morning made my stomach flip like a high jumper having an epilectic fit....why, oh why do I keep doing this to myself?

I find that if I drink all night long and get a good buzz on. I like to take a motrin and eat a piece of bread just before I go to bed. I wake up feeling fine. Until I see the party mess I did and have to clean up. That's when I feel bad, having to clean the mess. Did you have fun?

Is this a blue moon ocassion that the wife and kids go away and you're left unattended? If that's the case maybe it's because you don't do enough of the 'night out on your own' and when you do get it you go a little overboard? I mean, I guess the good thing is, at least you had fun! and of course you'll clean up after yourself before your wife and kids get home right? I'm way too lucky. When I used to drink A LOT I rarely ever woke up feeling it and when I did it still wasn't too bad. The alcholics run deep in my blood... as does the irishness :)

I rarely get to do this. I'd gone out for a few pints with my pal and when I got home felt like having a few more...had a great wee party with myself....how sad is that?....LOL

everyone needs a party with their self once in a while! but it's probably because it's such a rarity. maybe you need to have some you time a little more often...or you have "us time" with your wife? like i said...the key is always that you had fun and enjoyed yourself! oh and of course that you didn't hurt anyone!

Sadly inked some of us have short-term memory loss!! I did the same last Saturday, I stayed up till 6am drinking and the next day I did not lift my head till 6pm. I really thought I was going to die. But did I learn, NO! We broke up this Friday for our school holidays so we all went out from work. Started drinking at 3pm and finally staggered home at 1am. I don't know about you but once a few have given me a buzz, instead of saying "stop now" I tend to go mad. I enjoy it at the time and forget about the consequences. I am sure for both for us this will not be the last time we do this:) Salute!!!

you do it because you have no self control. Maybe you should learn some.

maybe you should learn to control your rudeness when speaking to someone you don't know anything about...thanks for the response.....I think

Well your the only one who can answer your own question but it would be best if you stop getting drunk. Drinking is fine but getting drunk and having a mess to clean in the morning kinda sucks. Why don't you entertain yourself in another way.

Drink 3 or 4 pints of water before you go to bed, then that should prevent a hangover. Hangovers are only there because your dehydrated. I hope this helps. :)

I ask myself the same question. 4 weeks without drinking just proved to be too much for me last night so I felt the need to make up for lost time. My head feels like it's going through the wringer. It is a mystery as to why we keep going back for more. Drinking is just so much fun I think, and we don't care how we'll pay for it the next day.
