Harry Potter 7 - Spoiler Free

I have just finished reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I got it at the bookstore last night and started reading it a little over 12 hours ago as I type this, and that counts approximately 6 hours of sleep in the middle. No spoilers from me, but I wanted to share the ghastly experience of getting the book and also ask you guys to tell me about when/if you got it and when/if you finish reading it. Any spoiler-type discussions I'd be glad to have via private message. If you're not already on my friends list, put in a request and I will accept. So anyway, I got the book at the same bookstore I got #6 from, and it was a madhouse when I got book 6 but nothing like last night. Whereas on the #6 release party there was a huge line of voucher holders curving all around this huge store, there was an added element of trying to line people up in the order they came in. The customer service desk was giving out little numbered tickets and the employees were trying to get the numbers lined up. At 11:50 they were a little over 100 in getting the line in order - I was holding #342 and strongly suspecting that this venture would not work. I chatted with a woman who was holding a number a little less than 200 above mine and she said I should go around to where my number would most likely land in the line. I told her that I had a sneaking suspicion that this was going to fail and so I was staying nearby in case the numbered line was abandoned. Sure enough it happened, and I actually ended up in line right ahead of this lady, who was very good natured about the whole thing. I got out of the bookstore and into my car at 12:17, stopped for something to drink and a snack for my son and came home to start reading. I swear, it was almost like some of the crazy things the Ministry of Magic has done in books 5 & 6 the way those bookstore employees were trying to make the number scheme work! they were yelling out those numbers at the top of their lungs and trying to bend the crowd to their will. It was annoying. But, ultimately just a wonderful way to end this series. Even though (as some of you may know), I succumbed to the temptation of the spoilers online this week, but it didn't spoil this pleasure for me. Although, without disclosing details, I will say that some but not all of what I read on spoilers did end up to be true. However, what was missing from the spoilers was so skillfully done by JK Rowling, it was really a great book. Hope everyone who is interested is enjoying. Please share your experiences with me.

He.ey, you're such a fast reader! I got a copy of the book already but I can't read as fast as I can because I also have a lot of responsibilities. I envy you. I haven't read the spoilers, I'm glad. Its nice that you didn't mention anything in your discussion to spoil it for me but nothing compares to really reading the book, no matter how much people spoil it for you. Hummm... I haven't finished the book but I'm already seeing a well written book. I already love it because of the heart-stopping events even at the start of the book. Its being unpredictable and all. This is opposed to Book 6 which I think was hastily written. I'm sorry for Ms. Rowling but that's how I feel. I love the way she writes but I can't help comparing her works with each other. Its nice getting to know another HP fanatic. Have a nice day!

Nothing wrong with sharing your opinion. Thank you for responding! I'm glad you're enjoying the book. I am nearly finished with it for the second time and I have enjoyed it more this time than the first.

My daughter did just as you did last night. She stood in line to get the book at WalMart. She came home and read all night long, finishing the book at 9 AM...then went to work at 10:30 AM!!! She hasn't been on the internet all week..so as to not see any spoilers! She was beaming this morning, saying that the entire process was worth it. She has convinced me to read the books, and I am almost finished with book one! Ha! I know, a bit late..but better late than never. Rowlings is an incredible author thus far!

Enjoy! Both of my parents have now decided that they want to read the books. They are divorced but are collaborating to borrow from me, first my dad who will then pass them on to my mom
