False stories get good responses on MYLOT???

Hello Friends! Last week when I was chatting with my friend, she said that false stories get good responses here on mylot. She said when she was new here, she posted few of her problems thinking that she would get some good response which may help. But she didn't even get a single response to those posts. But then she started posting false discussions about her life to increase earnings on mylot. They were just imaginary things & she gets more than 100 responses for each discussion. I was shocked to hear this. I always start general discussions & respond to general ones, so don't have much idea about this. But whats your opinion? I mean have you seen or heard such things happening here? vani^_^

I've never started a false discussion here. I seen some that I have wondered about, though. And certainly I've seen some that, while not false, where really about not much at all. Yet a lot of the ones that aren't about much seen to get a lot of responses.

If your statement has to be believed, then one fool is leading 100 lions. I do not think it works. People can make out in a short while and many people avoid giving response to such stories. Only gullible falls trap.

It is working for her. She is earning good amount here because she has made many friends through those false/fake discussions & they respond to her discussions regularly. Anyways, thanks for responding! Happy Earnings!

I have never put up a false post here on mylot.. Why and whats the sense? Truthfully I would feel bad if I were too and got some many responses to it just to make money on mylot. I say if you can't be honest you should post anything at all but that is just my oppion.. Sometimes people think it's funny and when the time comes for it to happen it's not as funny.. Now if I were to start a post that said "My boyfriend broke up with me because da da da" that would be so wrong for me and I will would feel so bad for having people feel sorry for me. See I am just an honest person that believes in the truth and not lies. It's really sad to see such things happen like that on here just to get people to respond to them.. Just my oppion!

I agree with stealthy that posts without much substance tend to get more reponses than others. Unfortunately I am seeing more and more of these posts too. I don't make too many discussions but the ones I do I really want to know about it and they are not false. I wish there were more real life discussions to talk about but they tend to get pushed to the side with all the unimportant topics. I'm not here for the millions I can make but I like chatting which those topics make hard to do. Vicki

Now that is very interesting.False stories to increase popularity.Good thinking by your friend.Well I need not start false stories because I am content with doing more replies than starters.I am comfortable replying to others rather than thinking of something new and typing it in with many corrections here and there.

Sensationalism attracts people who need something to fill up their life. I do not answer sensational posts, whether they are true or false, because that is not my nature. I do not need those weird and wild experiences and ideas. However, they do attract more responses. Often, when you are new on myLot, it takes a while before people notice you, and start to respond to your discussions. I found, by experience, that answering other people for awhile, to build recognition, then acquire friends, who will at least know that you have posted and need response. So whether the stories are true or false, if they are sensational, and lurid, more people will respond, it is just human nature.

somehow, this DOES happen. It's amazing how a genuine problem doesn't get more responses than "I'm 16, I have 5 children, the baby daddy of the youngest child just left me and I have no money. What should I do!??" It's ridiculous, really.

I have never put a false discussion on My Lot. Everything I have written about has been true. I put up a few problems my dogs had and managed to sort these out. I am still trying to solve the problem of my partner being so messy. I like to answer interesting discussions and feel that they are genuine. Travel is one of my favorite topics. One member asked if people have traveled by ship and another member wrote back talking about having traveled in a space ship! I must have about 5 or so discussions without any responses. It is is shame but it happens to all of us I guess. None of my discussions get hundreds of responses but this don't bother me. I like to read the replies and am always happy that the people have responded.

Dear vani Yes I have seen many users doing this act .. infact there are many users in my friend list whom I have noticed doing this acts .. and infact I have found that their discussions are a great hit always .. sometimes I really don't believe their discussions and I know this can't happen .. and they used to write all false things just to gain more popularity and more responses .. and I have started avoiding their discussions .. I like to respond to a true discussion where my response matters .. rather than responding to a discussion where the discussion starter is itself is a liar.

Hello there indiavani! Are you kidding me, your friend says false stories get good responses on MYLOT! I can’t speak for anyone else but myself when I say this; I have never started a false discussion! That would be crude especially if it is intended to pray on the sympathies of fellow Myloters. I think that your friend should be ashamed on him/herself! I love being here on Mylot not for the earnings but for the amount of concern and support I receive from other members. I usually post everything and anything that I am going through day to day, but not once have I ever contemplated MANIPULATING Mylot in any way. This is really shocking! I know that no one is perfect an have heard of different ways of cheating, but to post false stories! Than is just pathetic! I hope your friend isn’t too proud of her earnings or 100 responses because at the end of the day she is still a FAKE.

Yeh, I agree with you. I told her that she is being fake which isn't right, but she says nobody here responded to her true discussions, so whats wrong if she is making money as well as friends by posting false discussions which attract more than 100 responses per discussion. Anyway, I think its wrong, but she is happy with it & says many other mylotters are doing so. So why can't she. Then what can I say...

I find it kind of pathetic that she is making up stuff just to get a reaction. I mean, really, what is the point? to earn a couple of pennys? If she wasn't getting any response to any of her "real" posts then perhaps there is a reason behind it. As for this happening often, I wouldn't know. I assume that most people here are telling the truth. If not eventually it all comes out as one will usually get all caught up in the lies and trip up.

Well, I am new to mylot, and in all honesty, I can't speak to whether or not someone is creating "false stories" to increase earnings. My personal perspective on this, though, is that sooner or later, karma will catch up with a person who knowingly does this. Perhaps the earnings will suddenly drop to nothing, or perhaps the person's lies may be found out and exposed, and the person will be publicly humiliated by someone else. I rather pity a person who feels they need to resort to lying just to make a few bucks. I see absolutely no value in that. *shrug*

I am new to this site so am still getting a feel for what's going on. My first reactions to this site included a good feeling for some of the participants who seem to have a sincere presence. Since then, in looking for discussions to respond to, I'm a bit dismayed by the number of posts that seem driven by posting for money in a way that really compromises substance and gets in the way of any real communication. It's nice that one can get a few cents for posting but that's not enough for me to spend my time. There has to be something more, connection, communication, learning, etc. As for made-up stories, I think that is happening. Like I said, I'm new but I'm no fool. Which is too bad because I think there are some genuine posts of wrenching situations. What I sometimes do, is look at the person's profile and history of discussions to get a feel for the authenticity of the discussion. It's pretty time-consuming though, so if I have a doubt, I may not repond. There have been a couple of times (including after responding) I've had a nagging feeling in my gut that I was being baited. (Throw me back to the fishes.)
