Now here is a subject close to my heart.
I have a female pitbull and she has a lovely nature, loves other dogs, children, adults and is always wagging her tail. She can be very boisterous at times, but that is just here nature.
I believe to a certain extent the saying" There is no such thing as a bad dog, just bad owners"
A word of warning though for any dog, if you chain them up they can become vicious.
There is good and bad in people and so why shouldn't it be the same for dogs, pitbull or not, or any animal for that matter.
Anyway that's my opinion of pittbulls.

Pitbulls are very offensive dogs, did you hear recently that a child was sdmized by a Pitbull and the little boy had such damage to his rectum that he had under go gruelling hours of operations? Is this attributed to poor teaching my friend? I think it is in the nature of pitbulls, if they are not raping little boys, they are attacking innocent passers by!

Pitts are naturally agressive. That is just the way they are and have been from the very beginning. My stepdaughter had one and my former neighbor had two. They were both nice dogs. The bad thing about this breed is that they are frequently unpredictable. I don't think they should be around young children. Not so much because of the dog, but because young children do not always know things like not to pick at a dog or irritate it. I remember when I was a kid I did something that irriated our pet airdale and he bit me. Any dog can be a problem if not trained correctly.

American Pitbull's are a very nice animal as any other. Most people should never own one. They are very independent and intelligent and strong. If a person owns one they have to be strong enough to be the boss. The dog tests its owner regularly because that is their nature. It has nothing to do with being bad just their nature. They are a product of their nature and training.

I love pits. The problem is of course that many bad dog-owners are attracted to them for their reputation. Those people fail to train them properly or worse, they intentionally train them to fight & be aggressive. Then when something goes wrong the whole breed looks bad. They're not a "beginner" dog. Only someone who's experienced with dogs & ready to be devoted to a pit's training should consider one. They're very smart, independant & strong, which is the right combination for a problem without proper training.

I love pitt bulls. I plan to get another in the future. The problem is people are ignorant on this topic and their ignorance is what is hurting even killing innocent pitt bulls. If trained properly and taken care of well a pitt bull can be as nice if not nicer and more loyal then any other dog.
