Here in brazil, people are really afraid to start their own business, people prefer to get less money but at least they have security of receiving the sallary, even if it's little money. Have you ever dreamed of opening your own business but didn't because you are afraid of changes?

Yes I dreamed of opening my own business...and I did. My husband and I are both self-employed. He does computer service work, I am a free lance writer and we have a company called Fresh Beginnings that we co-direct. We write, produce and present a variety of healthy living seminars and market interactive home study courses.
With our work we often have 'feast or famine' type scenarios because everything we do is by contract. Sometimes we have a lot of work..other times not so much. Summer and Christmas times are slower periods for us so we have learned to budget our income to cover expenses when the income is not as abundant. That is the one challege that took us awhile to master.
From our experience owning your own business is the way to go...if you can do it. However it takes a lot of planning, self-exploration and 'get real' type of honesty. It is really easy to delude oneself into all the benefits of working for yourself...but it is still work. In the begninning be prepared to work up to 60 hours a day to get your business off the ground.
Attention to detail is important...as solid business and marketing plans. If a new business owner is going to borrow money..then most lenders (at least in North America) will not take anyone seriously without a business plan. It lets the lender know that you've put some thought into who customers will be..how many you expect to have in the first 1-5 years..and how you will develop the business to keep it thriving.
Having a good lawyer and accountant are essential. They can save any business owner a lot of grief...and they become part of your business team. They are paid on an as need basis...but trust me you will need them!
So yes, being your own boss is great...but my hubby and I learned a lot of the above things by trail and error. Hope this helps you to weigh your options and will allow you to think before you leap. After all the ducks are in a row...I'd say go for it! We never know what we are capable of until we try. Even if you 'fail' you'll learn a lot about you are and what you do and do not want in life...so with those lessons learned there is no failure..just experience!

There are a few businesses that we would like to do and can only entertain one of them since the society will only truly support the one. Beginning a business needs to be done with a level head and with all the information possible. You need capital and dedication. There may be long hours and sometimes lack of funds. It is best that you love what you are doing since you probably will be doing it practically 24 hours a day for a year or so. It is well worth trying since you never truely know until you do. Good luck with yours.

I am a working mother and I wanted financial security for my family. I wanted to run a small bussiness I can call my own so I started with a plan and now I am glad to have it started. It's a small store outside our home that offers day to day necessity. I think I would venture into small time bussiness first before going big time..

Yes I always had a dream of having my own business. I like tobe my own boss and so I prefer to work on my own. In the next coming months I am opening my own office for web desinging. I love this work and I am getting a lot's of projects so I have decided to continue with it in a better way. Yes jobs are secure and business can go wrong at any time. But for me since my husband will be wokring so I am safe in that way.
