My Husband Mowed the Carpet!

Not to laugh at my husband's expense... BUT! A few months ago we bought a new vacuum cleaner. It promised not to lose suction (NO, not that ONE...!!) Being a gadget guy, he figured he would vacuum our bedroom carpet. I was downstairs with his mother and my kids when I smelled a strange burning smell. Having gone through many vacuum belts growing up I knew exactly what it was. He swore it must be coming from the new carpeting. he continued to vacuum the house downstairs and the smell got worse. Finally, I had to check. We took out the dirt bin and it was full of green 'fur' from our carpet. Turns out my husband had it on the lowest setting and 'mowed' all the carpets!!! There was fiber everywhere in the tubes! There was not one square inch of space in that vacuum that was not packed with the fiber!!! It was hysterical. To this day, we all joke about it! Tell my your husband's funny mess-up using appliances!

lol that sounds like something my husband would do. well i don't know if this counts as an appliance..but,.. one day my husband decided to see how much he weighs. so he steps up on the scale and starts freaking out. "i've gained 15 lbs!" he yells from the bathroom. so i go in to see what he is talking about. he turns to me and in his arms is our 1 month old daughter! lol. I looked at him and said "dear, look at what you are holding" his face got all red and he just said "oh" lol. i still pcik on him to this day for it lol.

Now that is funny! My husband tried to bake a birthday cake in the toaster oven because the our oven was being used for other entree's he got impatient and decided to do this on the sly. I smelled something burning and I looked in the toaster oven to find the cake! I was really amazed that he tried this! Everyone wanted a cake for easter so that was what I was going to make. I was going to cook the cake while we ate dinner and then I would be able to frost it as everyone let dinner digest, but my hubby thought he was helping me hahahah! We salvaged the cake. I just cut the top off, flipped it over and we frosted the cake and served it up. We still laugh about that.

Well that is pretty funny....my hubby has not had quite that kind of catrostrophe. However he did buy one of those products from television that blends...dices...etc. He used it so much and packed it so full that he finally killed it...and it wasn't cheap! I kept telling him but he wouldn't listen...so now I have all these pieces and lids and containers and no unit to use them with....lol..

That is really funny. I would like to know what kind of vacuum that is? A Kirby maybe? My husband is a gadget guy too.

It's a Eurika Boss. Eurika is made by Electrolux. My mother still has the same electrolux from when I was a baby over 30 years ago! Kirby's are along the same reputation and quality.

Too funny! This is a great story! I don't have a story to add to this as my husband (now ex) really didn't partake in much around the house. I do have a friend who tried to help out when his wife was sick in bed. He poured regular dish soap into the dishwasher....ended up cleaning the floor as well.

That is so unbelieveable! That vaccuum must be very powerful! LOL~ that is so funny. My husband tried to be mr fixit one time and he put a garbage disposal in our kitchen sink. When he hooked the water back up, he mixed up the hot and the cold so when we turned on cold, we got hot and visa versa. He also cut the piping so he couldn't fix it! We got use to it, but when company came, we always had a good laugh!

I hate the smell of burning rubber or fiber in this case. I would be laughing too! With the carpets being green even made it funnier..green grass, green carpet. How funny.

I laugh but I did it myself only I caught on a little earlier as it was only one room. The carpet was blue. Now I have moved to a new place that don't have a lick of carpet in the whole house so I won't make that mistake again. HEHE Viki

Great story! Thanks for the share. My husband doesn't have too many issues with appliances, but....when ever he puts something together that we buy for the house, there are always extra parts leftover! LOL
