Movies, Books and Discussions, Oh My! Is there anyone else out who is tired of Harry Potter? Or anyone else out there reading something other than Harry Potter. I am reading a decent book by Yasmine Galenorn called Changeling which is a supernatural romance of sorts about a shape-shifter.

Well I was in the middle of a James Patterson book, but it got suspended for the 7th HP book. No, I am not tired of HP at all. The books are all great, I love them. I also love a bunch of other books including all of the James Patterson books.

I already read and enjoyed "Changling"; it is a very good book. BUT, I also like and enjoy Harry Potter.
I admit it took me a while to "get into" the Harry Potter series because I didn't even start reading the books until after the first movie came out. The books are MUCH better than the movies because the movies leave SO MUCH out. The whole Harry Potter "craze" will not really slow down until the last two books are released in movie form (late 2008 for the Half Blood Prince and no date for the last one yet).
Right now, I am reading a book called: "Blood Ties Book One: the Turning" by Jennifer Armintrout. It is nothing like the TV series by the same name; but, it is still a very good book!

Finished the book last night before I went to bed - it was pretty good. It a bit of a surprise ending which I enjoyed.
Just started a book called "Mysteria" which is written by 4 writers - Mary Janice Davidson, Susan Grant, P.C. Cast, and Gena Showalter. It is about a town called Mysteria which was settled 300 years ago by a group of settlers made up of: "a bloodphobic vampire, a black-magic witch and her white-magic husband, a pack of 'hump happy' werewolves, and a man named John." Over the years other "magical misfits and outcasts" have moved there. Each author has written one story about the town and it's residents today.
Looks like it will be a good read too.

O.K. I confess.
I've never read any Harry Potter books.
Call me weird, but I've not even WANTED to read a Harry Potter book.
But I'm glad there are lots of former non-readers finding a reason to read.

It’s not that I am tired of the Harry Potter hype; it’s that I am not just interested in Harry Potter and I cannot seem to fathom why a lot of people are so into it. Personally I think Harry Potter is kids stuff but then a lot of the older generations are also going gaga over the bespectacled boy. It’s really a case of ‘to each his own’ thing. But anyway, I am still not affected by all the media hype that’s been going around over the book and the movie. Soon it will fade away and everything will be back to normal.

i think it is only a temporary hype... i believe it will die over time... i myself am not a fan of harry potter and i don't blame those people who are a fan of harry potter... because it is their choice... i just don't pay much attention about the hype and i also don't let it bother me...

I have never even TRIED to read a Harry Potter book. The genre does not interest me. I did buy one of the first books for my daughter way back in the day (LOL!). I don't think she ever read it. She is 14 and has had no interest in Harry Potter.
At the soccer tournament this weekend we saw a couple of people walking around with the new HP book under the arms. One mother said hers was in her car and she'd better read it quick before someone steals it from her.
*shaking head* Nope. I just don't get it.

Yes I am to be honest! I tried to read a couple of the books and thought they were far too long and vastly overrated! I saw a couple of the movies but didn't really enjoy them. "Lord of the Rings" as a book and a series of films was far, far superior in my opinion. Glad I'm not alone.

I am not at the moment reading anything. But I am sick of all the Harry Potter hype. But I guess if we can get through this it will die down just like it did in the past.

I'm not into Harry Potter, I watched maybe 2 of the movies when there was nothing else on HBO years ago. I think it's a good story but not enough to make me stand outside a bookstore at 12am to buy one. I just went to Walmart, looked at a copy and read the last page to see what everyone was talking about. I'd rather read something that doesn't require me then reading 10 other editions that take years to get.

Yea I feel its become overrated. I liked it when I was younger but it felt more and mroe like a drag as it went on. When i was on the 5th book and felt it was painful to reach the ending, i decided I would no longer follow it.

Nope--you're looking at a die-hard Harry Potter fan..love the books and movies, but they aren't the only books I read---I'm dividing my time reading the latest Harry Potter book, Eragon, and Midnight by Erin Hunter...since noticing your kitty avatar that last book should interest you--it a series of books from The Warrior series, and starts with Into The Wild...its a cat's eye view of the world and how the four "clans" of wild, feral cats live and survive..excellent books...so far there are a total of fifteen books in the series...

I have been tired of Harry Potter for awhile.
Since I haven't gotten around to hitting the bookstore, I am re-reading my Dragonlance books. I love fantasy stories!
I also re-read my Executioner books. I like it when the bad guys get it in the end.

I kinda like the books and movies, but the hype is fairly extreme. It reminds me of cabage patch dolls when I was a kid.
I bought several new books with birthday money recently and have started reading _The Speed of Dark_ by Elizabeth Moon. It is looking to be pretty good. It is told from the point of view of at least one autistic person. It's too soon to tell whether there will be point of view shifts. She a favorite author of mine, I loved her _Remnant Population_.
Happy reading everyone!
